Get saving. It’s a bet to nothing for me. Keep Tc and chesh will be paying enough to cover it. I expect that I will be collecting twice. Now stop going off topic.
It’s on topic for me. It’s like being a kid before Christmas when you’ve found the presents hidden away and know what you’ll be getting.
Still not ready to say you were right (yet) though will happily admit that (on certain things) it if we lose the next 7.... However for the moment happy to keep the faith with the current system for a number of reasons Radz - Very happy with new owner. Has put his money where his mouth is and unlike previous owners is a successful business man who wants success and knows Leeds need it for him to make a return on his investment but is realistic in the time scale needed to achieve it and has time and resources on his side. Director of Football - I have no problem with the club having one, Manchester City, Chelsea , Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus etc etc seem to have done ok with one. As transfers get more and more complicated it seems to make a lot of sense to have someone who's sole job is to work on identifying and recruiting players leaving the manager free to work with the team. The days of the all powerful Ferguson/Wenger controlling every aspect of the club are largely over because there are so few Wengers/Fergusons. The key with this role is that the Director, the Manager and the Owner/Chairmen have to work closely and in harmony. Impossible to say if that's happening at Leeds but so far the impression given is that they have - however I'll admit the truth would only likely come out after one of the three leaves. But there appears to be a lot of simplistic definitions of what the roles are as if Victor Orta is just imposing players on TC without any discussion. If their relationship is healthy then they'll be in discussion in terms of what is needed, who is potentially available, whether they should be signed. As for Victor Orta still happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. Came with a tainted reputation from Middlesborough but prior to joining them had an excellent reputation so jury out on that. Yes he's going for an approach of buying cheaper, selling high and investing in the academy - exactly the model that has served Southampton so well lately and at present failing a Manchester City style owner the model that will best serve us until we get back. As for summer signings still to early to tell on many of them. The Howard Wilkinson approach is that if you sign 10 and six of them work out you've done very well and I'd add to that that often you won't really know how they turn out until their 2nd year. Chris Woods in his first season scored 13 in his second 27. Players need time to adjust to each other and to the division and to the manager and some like Grot have been thrown in much earlier than they were meant to because of injuries (and clearly been found wanting but shouldn't be judged to the point of being destroyed when they were never intended to be used like that yet). Now would they have made other signings if they were to start the summer transfer window now. Of course but much like the players sometimes need a season to adjust to really show their best results so do Managers, Chairmen, Directors of Football. TC - as I've said happy to keep the faith with him for now. After a fantastic start - with some great performances and good results I felt we got lucky post Burton with some good (lucky) results but not great performances. Last couple of weeks I've felt we've had some good performances (not for 90 minutes) but with some (unlucky) bad results. He can't take the blame if Lonergan suddenly forgets how to catch a cross etc and he's still learning about his squad. He's done some of the things Leeds fans have being calling out for Drop Felix, bring in Lonergan, then couple of weeks later amnesia kicks in and it's suddenly drop Lonergan bring in Felix. Likewise KP, RV, KR - same will happen with Lasogga. Personally I think he's a young, talented, ambitious and intelligent manager who wants to play football in an entertaining attacking fashion so unless we turn into relegation fodder I'd give at least a full season to see what he can do. All this talk of sacking him and bringing in Allardyce or McCarthy or Warnock so we can kick our way out of this division and turn into what? A WBA?, a Stoke? I'll pass (in both senses) thanks. Squad - yes we lost Taylor, Wood, Green and Bartley but very little we could have done with all of these (well maybe Green - but the instinct to build a squad for the future I still think is the correct decision) and as for the additions I'm very happy with Saiz and I'm also happy with Lasogga and Alioski. Jury out on the others but I'm sure some will come good just as some will fade and disappear. In all departments the main thing I'd like now from the fans is something we've never been good at; realistic patience (we've always seem to go for we're either world beaters after a win and the worst team ever after a loss). From the club all I'd like is stability. The one thing we've failed to had for 14 years. Most of the areas above in terms of playing, team, transfers, tactics will get easier with stability. If we keep our nerve then we'll go into the next summer with the chairman, DoF and manager having a much clearer idea of what we've got and what additions we need. For the first time we won't be desperately trying to sell our best players and hopefully won't be bringing in new managers to have to go through the whole learning process again. I've seen enough in the last month to make me despair and think that eventually on DoF and Manager you maybe right and I'll happily say you were right. But I've also seen enough this season to give me hope and make me keep the faith that this a rough learning patch that won't kill us and make us stronger so that you can say I was right when we're promoted as champions in our centenary year.....
