Sorry I missed that post with a few notifications coming in at once, is the woman in question from the TV show tonight? I'm not watching so don't know the details of how she payed so tax....im guessing she will be classed as self employed and will use an extremely clever accountant who will offset everyhting they can against against expenses etc....how much tax did they pay on other earns for the year? Without knowing all the details such as what was their yearly income and tax amount paid, it's hard to really comment..... If they have simply earned 300k and payed no tax due to a clever accountant and it was all legal then I'm sorry but I'd do the same if i was self employed.

If all these people are doing it illegally then I hope they are caught and made to pay what they owe plus interest.

She got £360,000 in 16 months sent to Mauritius.
She then got sent 5 so called loans sent back here to that value thus avoiding paying any tax whatsoever.

If you don' have the ability to learn to the level needed?

If the opportunities are few and beyond your ability?

If your circumstances and responsibilities hinder you?

I understand the spirit of your argument, but the reality is often very different for some.

It was tax evasion and was therefore illegal.

Was it legal? If so then I'm sorry but I'd do the same to get the best for me and my family, if it's illegal then I hope she's heavily fined and has to pay it back plus interest.....

I obviously have no idea on your work situation but if you offered cash by your boss to work some extra hours would you declare it? Or if self employed do a card in hand guvy job and it not find its way into the books...... What's the difference between those 2 situations and the people we are taking about apart from the numbers

I think she will regret this and suffer career wise.
Probably taken some advice from her father without thinking.

So if everybody could do this how the hell would our country run.
How would the very roads you drive on be available.
How would our schools educate people.
How would the hospitals help people to live or don't you care about human life.??

I'm sorry if this comes across harsh etc and I agree the reality isnt as black and white, but humans arnt all the same in life, some have better ability then others, some are stronger, some are better looking, some have heads for business, some are better with their hands and at a trade, the world we live in not everyone will be equal and earn the same, life just doesn't work this way.

Even if it's only in a small way, everyone can improve and make a change to make their life better, it may never be financially life changing but it may lead to a richer life for them

I read a book a few years ago called the Establishment: And How They Get Away With It.

One of the chapters is about tax avoidance/evasion. Employees of PwC, Deloitte, KPGM and EY all help the government draw up tax laws and then go back to their customers and advise them on all the loopholes they've created.

As it's been pointed out, what they did was illegal so not everyone can or does do it....and as I said I hope she's fined, pays all tax owed plus interest

You've simply supported my point with your post. Some folk can contribute and live their life, but their ability and/or circumstance can limit their progression from where they are in life. We have a prime example of someone who has risen above his ability in charge of our club.
