Rumours suggest that Kane and Winks are pulling out of the England squad, due to the knocks that they took against Palace. So they should. Meaningless friendlies just before we face the Goons? No, thanks. Perhaps Southgate should consider not running our players into the ground in his next round of games, like he did in the last one? Kane probably didn't need to play 90 minutes against Lithuania when qualification was already sealed, did he? Especially on a plastic pitch when you don't bother using all of your subs. You twat.
Decision time for Southgate. Specifically, admit that : - Spurs players are the core of your best starting XI - They are not, but you are too cowardly to play those from the usual suspects in meaningless games while abusing the goodwill of Spurs and the enthusiasm of our youngsters.
Kane and Winks both withdrawn from England squad - meaningless friendlies this is a sensible decision by club and country
Thank **** for that. Rose could do with the game time but please can Dier pick up a "sprain" in the next 24 hours?
Southgate will be calling up Championship players soon. Billy Sharp anyone? There's always Stewart Downing...
Southgate does not need to assess Dier against Germany. Just get the video of the 2016 fixture and watch that instead.
Nice to see Livermore getting another call-up, though I don't think he's really what England need. The squad doesn't look particularly well balanced to me, again. Not a creative player in the midfield, at all.
The best like for like replacement for Winks would be Tom Carroll. For Dele Alli you need someone a bit unpredictable. Jack Wilshere is probably the best we can do while Barkley is injured.
In what way is Wilshite unpredictable? You can predict his entire season in mid-June: play a fraction of the Goons' fixtures, whinge about not being in the England squad, slag off Spurs in a desperate attempt to divert attention from the fact both he and his team had a ****e season, and repeat.
Cue another couple of caps for England's number 1 Joe Hart.... How about a recall for Rooney in his No.X role? You know his experience and leadership will be good in the dressing room..... But wait - I've just thought of a great way of playing Gerrard and Lampard in the same team...
My biggest concern of this international break is that Eriksen has to step onto the same pitch as James McClean twice in a few days and that genuinely feels me with dread - hopefully he gets sent off early for one of his usual hacks (on a different Dane) and is suspended for the 2nd. Would like to see the Danes qualify even if puts Christian in the shop window.
Jamie Vardy says that he "still feels 21" as he prepares to represent England as one of the oldest players in a youthful squad. I assume by which he means that his team currently reminds him of the Stocksbridge Park days.
