I'm sure most of you guys already know how highly I rate Koscielny. The guy is not only our best CB, but also one of the best CBs in the league. He is simply sublime.

Imo him and Vermaelen are going to form a formidable partnership. They will complement each other and form a magnificent understanding. Kossy and Vermaelen are individually very good defenders, so if they can combine their abilities and attributes they will become a striker's worst nightmare.

Also, does anyone know how long Kossy is out for?

Vermaelen is by far the better of the two but neither of them would make the top ten in the premier league.

I'm sick of having this argument. Why is Vermaelen the better of the two? Koscielny is better than Vermaelen in almost every department!

What is Vermaelen better than Koscielny at?

Kossy is a better tackler, he reads the game better, he's a better passer of the ball and he's better in the air. Vermaelen has better leadership skills and that's about it imo. Of course it's just a matter of opinion and I just think Kossy is a better overall defender.

 

As for the Vermaelen vs Koscielny debate, i would not be so quick to say Vermaelen is miles better. They are both a bit different, one loves to defend on the ground while the other is better in the air as seen by Vermaelen making sure Carrol did not get much of a sniff all game. They make a great combo and as soon as Kos went off, Liverpool had more of a chance. Koscienly is an amazing defender on the ground, and had a 100% tackle rating in France. And when you watch the Barca game, you could see it when he was up against Messi. He also good at pressing and normally is on a forward in an instant once the ball is played forward. For me out of the two, i would say Koscielny is the better player.

Vermaelen would certainly get into a top 10.

 

Okay, to put it simply, opposing teams look at our lineup and say "oh no, vermaelen is playing" They don't say that about koscielny. Vermaelen has a fear factor, other teams don't like playing against him.

No, not really. These two both play for my team and watch every single game and infact Vermaelen made more mistakes in his first season then Kos did in his. Its close but i would give Kos the edge based on his performances against the better teams and therfore the better players.

 

The Verminator is far better than cahill. Cahill is hugely overrated, i'd rather sign jagielka, he's more versatile, and better.

Our defence this season, with the Verminator and Koscielny was pretty solid, until koscielny got injured.
