I missed most of it due to a bad WiFi connection, and couldn't bring myself to watch the highlights. To lose in this manner is certainly hard to take.
Well, I was there, and at the time it felt awful. 1 small mercy was there was no gloating from any Everton fans. But now I've calmed down I have a different view of the game. We were actually better , much better than the Toffees for most of the game. They have every right to be a worried club. We lost 3 points that were ours to take, and as it's very unlikely that we will be anywhere near the bottom 3, or the top 4, then that's all it was. I enjoyed most of what we tried. Our defence is unreliable, but with 2 key defenders missing that is acceptable. Hughes looked the part from the off, much more Pereyra like - and thus effective -than Capoue. Okaka didn't look ready to play to me. Sad . Deeney will be regretting his suspension even more after Cleverley's miss, but there it is. The sub goalkeeper did have a 'mare, but I wouldn't remotely pass judgment on him on 1 unfortunate showing. I am looking forward to the next gfame 'cos I really like watching us play at the moment. That's all that really matters. COYH!
If Gomes' injury is bad enough for him to be left out of the West Ham game, based on what Silva has said previously, Watson will start as captain. If that's not the case, does Cleverley get the armband as he did yesterday? How bad is Kabasele?
Sam Ellis was the best penalty taker for me, put in the same place every time and no goalie got close!!!!!
FTRE worth a listen today. The boys made me laugh 24 hours after the event. Great work from them as usual
Keith Eddy for me - even though he did actually manage to miss one in his career. I even stood behind the goal as he scored one for England - not a particularly powerful shot, just perfect placement.
Any keeper who got behind a penalty taken by Cliff Holton was likely to finish up with the ball in the back of the net.
Having just seen the "highlights" Britos almost got caught out just after Richarlison scored! (His goal was harder than the chance he missed) Letting the ball bounce seems to be a problem in our defence - like Robert Page used to do. Gomes made 2 excellent saves before going off just showing his worth and how much we missed him (and he wanted to play on!) Penalties were just a mess - Holebas falls over giving theirs away and Cleverley not even close to scoring (looks like Ricky wanted to take it..)
Which may explain why he apparently is in trouble with the Premier League. In his excitement, he broke their copyright rules by loading a video of the goal into Instagram. Interesting one though - it was, after all, his goal - so does he not have some claim to the copyright of it?
I have to agree JT I am really enjoying watching us play this season, as long as we carry on in the same style and we get some injured players back it should get even better.
Rather sums up modern football - more worried about a video being shared than any from of actual crime like abuse or racism that seems to go unpunished in the FA.
me too...... so awful.. But we were the better side for a lot of the game.... and if Gomes had not gone off.... etc etc
Almost pressed the button to start watching it last night but couldn’t do it and watched something else instead. May try again tonight...
True that. We were as lucky as **** in all honesty, showed some fight and spirit but you should have won that game at a canter tbh. Apparently Moshiri asked for permission to talk to Silva in the boardroom afterwards and was told to go forth lol.
