Whoever is the new manager needs to bring in his own staff.

Bain said fundamental change. Surely that means Stockdale has to go.

Yesterday told me everything I need to know about Stockdale. Absolutely clueless and out of his depth. Just another P.E teacher who puts the bibs and cones out.

I dont think any supporter would have played Gibson or Jones yesterday or had Ndong out of position on the right. It just beggars belief.

Hoping Oshea Cattermole Gibson Jones are phased out now and replaced in January

Time to promote Ethan Robson, Embleton and Molyneux into the first team squad.

2 centre backs and a striker needed in January

I wouldn't have played Ndong there but I certainly would again having seen how good he was there.

Drop McNair back alongside Catts or Gibson (until we can replace them) and for me Ndong can stay on the wing.

Cattermole and Gibson should be banished from the squad.

We have Watmore and Mcmanaman for the right hand side.

Ndong and McNair centre mid with either Williams or Honeyman.

Ideally yes. I was impressed with Ndong though I thought he played a blinder there.

I'd like him to continue there for that reason although like you say it leaves a problem of who to play in the middle alongside McNair. Probably best to keep Ndong central for now I suppose.

Problem is, now we've lost yet another manager, the new one needs time to work it out for themself. Which means they'll be well in the plans beyond January, some of them will pick up new contracts and this is the world of **** which constantly changing managers does. It ain't a football manager game were you can assess a squad in half an hour. It takes a good month or two to asses ability, it can take 6 months to a year to fully asses your players character to get to the bottom of the real rot. Cause it's so often subtle disruption.

You wanted Grayson gone, you wanted to start all this whole process from scratch, now you expect the new manager to already have the information.banked to make these changes, it's far fetched. It's less than two month till the window opens. Think it's reasonable to say those with an 'Experiance' tag will be sticking around. It's the default action of a new boss after all. He'll be looking to these players initially, not shipping them out.

He played well because he's a good player.

He' been stifled this year as he's often doing 2 or 3 players work for them whilst Cattermole and Gibson shuffle around.

McNair and Honeyman/Williams give him a mix of strength pace and ability on the ball to play with.

True enough but it was the best I've seen him play for us and for that reason I'd like to see him tried in that position in the future.

Youre talking like the new manager will have never seen Sunderland play before. I bet he was watching yesterday

None of those should be in the first team even with the players we currently have nevermind if the new man gets a chance to bring a few new faces in themselves.

They should be back up at best going forward.

It was on the TV yesterday and we've barely seen sight of the Sky cameras all season. <laugh>

He's never seen them train and there's a chance they've only seen us play a few new games. Managers don't watch every team on the off chance they'll manage them, we've bearly been on TV and coverage has been very difficult to obtain, yes, I'm talking like they've barely seen us play, because they won't have until they get the recordings and sit through them like every new manager has to do.

Could not agree more with this, he was a revelation driving us forward first half, he is going to be one helluva player for somebody one of these days that's for sure.

Nail on the head, Moyes was supposedly watching us a lot before he took charge, and he hit the ground running not, and whoever takes over this time will inevitably make the fatal mistake of turning to the tried and trusted senior players. Grayson was our best chance of survival and should have been given more time. Limited as he was, he was doing better than some people gave him credit for, but sadly it was not reflected in results, where game after game we lost vital points, mainly due to the same failings already highlighted in triplicate on these threads.

People expected Grayson to do 12 months of Character assessment in a matter of weeks, somehow make the problem players salable and then replace them on **** all.

It needs a manager at the helm for long enough to spot the problems and he needs a few windows in addition to work the changes. We need to be giving a gaffer 18-24 months to effectively and thoroughly implement a new foundation to build on and accept things will continue to look bleak in the meantime. Managers don't get enough time or resources here, can't help feeling our plight will continue until they get that. We never ever learn so deserve to crash and burn as a club ultimately.

He took me by surprise with how he went about it, if it wasn't for the stupid hair I wouldn't have recognised him. I think Parker's right that we currently need him more in CM unfortunately so let's hope we sign a CM or two in January.

The most frustrating thing is that almost half of the Premier League is now small clubs that have been run well for a number of years. This has been a growing trend over the last 5 years or so and yet no one at SAFC appears to have stopped and thought "oh, maybe we should be doing things like them".

Yep. And when their successful managers are approached and leave, the foundation is in place for continuity. They're not in a position of which one choice can work a miracle, their position is large pool of good managers and asking which one can continue their progress best.

Precisely! Fair better than our knee jerk reactions and panicked appointments. Yet people want the club to go down that route time after time.
