Jesus was believed to be the Son of God and so God was making the ulimate sacrifice for us by sacraficing his son so that our sins would be resolved. After Jesus ascended into Heaven his Disciples began to spread the Word of God and gained the ability to speak in tongues (different languages) so that they could spread the Word to all.
If i had a son, i would make better use of him than spreading the word of god. I'd send him round the shop to get me a salad, i'm starving.
no extraordinary knowledge? now you are reaching imo so 1400 years ago a book with no knowledge of physics, surface tension or the ocean experts categorically states that He has let loose the two seas (the salt and fresh water) meeting together. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. and there is proof from divers etc that there some of the fresh water-fresh, which is very tasty because it does not mix / do not merge with the salty sea water around it, seems to have a wall or membrane that restrict both. as for the embryology, you think it is that a man is made from an extract of clay? what about the 3 veils of darkness? (l) the anterior abdominal wall; (2) the uterine wall; and (3) the amniochorionic membrane or a human being is created from a mixed drop. the union of a mixture of the sperm and the ovum or "Then We made the drop into a leech-like structure." This is an appropriate description of the human embryo from days 7-24 when it clings to the endometrium of the uterus, in the same way that a leech clings to the skin. Just as the leech derives blood from the host, the human embryo derives blood from the decidua or pregnant endometrium I could go on. The whole process is explained in detail
So what about the people who lived before this happened? According to christianity they all went to hell, because god had not bothered to inform them that they all need to believe in him. How was one man supposed to spread the word to the entire planet anyway?
What sacrifice did Jesus make? He died, like everyone else does, then came back and finally went to heaven. Where's the sacrifice there? If god wanted to absolve us all of our sins, then why didn't he just do so? If you die without having heard the word of Christ, then what happens to you?
There were prophets prior before Jesus, and if you believe in the story of Noah (which personally I think was probably a symbolic story) God sent a flood as a message of his displeasure with Humanity.
or maybe we are talking about the same topic? anyway i dont mind being associated with zakir, as i said to you before i have a lot of time for him as for verse 51:47 you will see that the word used is 'evsea' which means to expand or to creat the vastness. the verse also used 'moosiu'oona' which means the one who is expanding something. Therefore Yes expanding the universe. Many non-muslims have argued with regards to the verse but there is one thing that is certain: This verse is in perfect accordance with the modern science
Okay, assuming god is real, for the sake of argument, how do we send a message to show that we're displeased with him?
Well Muslims don't believe that Jesus was the Son of God, they think he was just a prophet, but they essentialy believe in the same God as Christians. God was meant to have sacrificed his Son as a sign of his love for us and to resolve ur sins. The Sacrifice being that he went through suffering.
Stealing the idea from another poster (it's one of the gooners), you get struck by lightning and turn into a 50ft tall dinosaur, with lasers for eyes.
Erm well you can always pray to God for answers. He might not always answer you directly but I think that things always work out for the best (in the long term) even if it means someone dying, if it means that they are no longer suffering. For example, when my Mum passed away it was sad but at least she was no longer suffering.
but do you first do what he asks of you? the problem today is like parenting. You cant chastise your kids, give them any real punishment, but your at fault if your kid is a fook up give me the 'rights' to sort him/her out and then if the are a fookup, fine its my fault
Yes they do but don't compare that to believing in god because it's not the same thing at all. The universe in infitely large and the part of it we actually know is a like a drop of water in the ocean. Hell we have only superficially researched our neighbouring planets. Given that there is an infinite amount of planets it can be presumed that life may well exist outside Earth. Would be quite a coincidence if, out of a gazillion planets, ours was the only one capable of creating life wouldn't it? So it's a logical assumption that aliens MAY exist somewhere. Existence of god is not a logical assumption because god as a being does not make any sense whatsoever. But as long as no evidence of aliens have been found scientists won't shove it down your throat, that's a major difference.
I would much rather believe in God and be proven wrong than not believing in God, being proven wrong and facing the consequences. If that makes sense.
So you can't pray, asking him to reveal himself, just to see if he is real. Hell, you believe in religion not me, you give it a try, after all the crap i've said about religion theres no way he'd listen to me.
You've totally destroyed your own argument here, by pointing out that divers can tell that there's a clear definition between where one sea effectively ends and the other starts. Didn't they have a sense of taste 1,400 years ago? No, I don't think that man is made from an extract of clay, as the Quran suggests. That was my point. "He creates you in the wombs of your mothers: creation after creation in three veils of darkness." No mention of any anatomy whatsoever. More vague scripture. Aristotle described the stage of a chick embryo 1000 years prior to the Quran. Galen described the process in the 2nd century. This is not revealed knowledge. Aristotle also talked about male and female reproductive fluids. The union that you talk about was already known.
So why has it only been a recent translation? Why was it never translated in this manner in the past?
We all suffer. People go through horrific pain and suffering every single day. What makes Jesus' sacrifice meaningful?
I try not to shove my belief in God down people's throats (I'm talking about it now because people are asking questions) and I don't like people who do. With regards to what you say about it being unlikely that our planet is the only one with life, it is also unlikely that the perfect conditions for life that exist on Earth could be replicated elswhere because so much has to be perfect for life to exist. Unlikely but not impossible.
