Sorry mate, this makes no sense at all. How can Pellegrino be "too cautious and negative to consider the likes of Boufal", when he has started him the last twice? Criticise the manager by all means, but it's obvious that to some fans, he can't do anything right.
Nor, for the first time, did my new away shirt. Last time I ever pay £50 for a scrap of crappy man made fabric.
I think something in this post is very salient. Young players not thriving. Think of how our young players thrived under Pochettino, and to a lesser extent Koeman. Our players don’t seem to be thriving or pushing on. Redmond is no better than when he came, for example
It does amuse me (not in good way, though) that when the likes of you and I were immediately crying out for a like-for-like replacement, I kept on having to read the line "Austin is Pelle's replacement". Absolute rubbish of course, they're completely different players, and I made that point continuously. But still, is was just "Austin Pelle's replacement". Now it's the line "The board have messed up". Yes, I was saying that two years ago!!! I takes absolutely no football genius, no requirement to be a football manager earning millions per year, to understand that Austin is not a Pelle replacement!
Heights. Yoshida is only 6'2" tall while Hoedt is a towering 6'2" tall He played him for pretty much the entire match. What are next week's lottery numbers, please? And may I take credit for this prescient post. I did fit in extremely well in the Northam. Someone even bellowed at him "You're f***ing useless, just kick the f***ing thing" for putting the ball down and having the temerity to take a moment to look up before kicking it. It was loud enough in a quiet moment that Fraser probably heard it. Nice work. Vin
I guess that's what I'm getting at. Seems like that's a very big gap in our squad. Why did Gabbi come off for him?
One of those performances where a player is totally anonymous. It wasn't like he was giving the ball away, or trying things that weren't coming off. He was just anonymous. Often being anonymous allows you to receive less criticism that someone who is trying, but failing. But when you're a lone striker and your team needs to score a goal, you can't get yourself such a get-out-of-jail-free-card. It didn't need this 25 - 30 min performance from him to tell me that he is finished as a PL striker. That was obvious to me from his cameo 10 minute performances back at the very start of the season. Selling him in January would be the ideal. But to be honest, I wouldn't even be against just tearing up his contract if both parties can agree. I know Long hasn't scored since February, and he has never been a prolific striker. But at least he can run. It's not even like Austin can bring us a head-on-a-stick option, like Crouch can for Stoke. Maybe goal-hanging for a late corner might be as far as Austin's use to us now goes?
Ian, if we don't make Boufal work, we need shooting. Build the team around someone with that ability.
Service starved fast striker replaced by service starved slow striker. Doesn’t take a genius to predict he won’t have an impact.
Except that in their 6 games away this season, Burnley have managed to get 11 points, including beating Chelsea. That is impressive.
It was one of those subs that just wanted to make your jaw drop. Alas, the only reason why mine didn't is because I had no faith, based on his time as manager so far, in MP playing the two of them together. The moment Austin was called over from the touchline, I was braced for the worst.
As a fully paid up member of the "Fat arse for holding the defender off" Centre Forward club, I resemble that remark
I can't imagine a way we can sell him, he must be one of our top earners, and contracted to 2020, ugh.
