    Saintsweb is brilliant reading :D

People wanting Adkins back and talking about him like he is Mourinho, or bringing Fat Sam in. Moyes looking like he is going to West Ham so we unfortunately have to rule him out of the running. What is McClaren up to nowadays? Think he is managing abroad somewhere

Nige would worry me equally as much. Not that either would ever happen.

It strikes me that Burnley did to us what we did to West Brom.
There has got to be some changes during the next window!!
Probably from the board down perhaps. Personally I have been a bit sceptical about their achievements for a few seasons and especially the last couple.
When you look at the team most are full internationals or have been. However few seem to be playing to an international standard. I can’t make up my mind what or where they answer lies. As a manager you need to motivate. Puel didn’t seem to be able to do it and at this stage it is doubtful MP2 is getting there either. But I ask myself why do we need a good clear out of player perhaps? It certainly is a puzzle...

I started one in the Chapel <laugh>

Good job my 87 year old dad is deaf, and couldn't really hear me getting into it with a bunch of boo boys behind us, after the final whistle.

Not a great end to the afternoon, really. But imagine if Steven Davis' shot from just outside the box on about 79 mins had of gone in. Everything would have been so different then.

I came away from the ground today not giving a **** that we had been beaten. That tells a story. I have come to realise that if you look for happiness in your life through the achievement of others you are destined to be disappointed and let us be honest Saints have always been one big disappointment. I now watch Saints as a neutral.

I'm not sure what a new manager would bring. Seems to me we played our best team. I kind of feel in the first half (like against Brighton) we're one or two good moves away from scoring a couple. I can't deny it's utter ****e to watch though

I played walking football in the summer, and we had a minutes silence at the start because during the previous week somebody had a heart attack and died.

On another matter about walking forward we played 8 games and the games all ended nil nil. Sounds familiar, apart from the opponents scoring of course

Pellegrino needs to let the players play a bit more and get more players alongside Gabbiadini so he isn't so isolated. If not then he will most likely be gone.

Just not very good quality and very lossy. You want FLAC as it's lossless

I thought VVD looked really pissed off when they scored.

Totally agree that we miss a target man. Why do we always try and cross, when we don't have anyone capable of receiving a flighted cross.

Not at all. We dominated and deserved to win in my opinion

Agreed, I said this just after the game but it got buried in the wailing. They had 1 shot on target and took it, in part thanks to our cardboard cutout goalie, that doesn't suddenly erase the rest of the game. They didn't win this game they played well, they won because we played we didn't take our chances when they came, I mean their GK got man of the match!

In a way, it was like the West Brom game, we were the better team and deserved to win, the difference is this time we didn't.

I think Targett is injured but odd that Newcastle fancied him in the summer.

I would have to say that I had thought that Pellegrino was doing ok and, to some degree, he has had to bring the squad back from where Claude Puel took them. We have generally been more attacking under Pellegrini but yesterday's performance was abject and seemed to be something of a turning point. He has clearly now lost the crowd and I would be worried to an extent because the squad changes do not seem to improve performances and the substitutions seems ineffectual too.

Benitez is seen as a cautious manager and this seems to be reflected in his pupil Pelligrino too. There is always talk of playing the "Southampton way" whenever a new managerial appointment is made and it seems strange to me that we have replaced one cautious manager with another and seemed to have abandoned our attacking and pressing style. I take the comment about Clement and Howe both struggling yet it seems odd that managers like Puel and Pelligrino can land managers jobs with premier league clubs when there is nothing to suggest that they are anything other than mediocre. Your point about bringing in academy players is salient , especially as there are players like Redmond, Forster, Cedric and Tadic who have been uneven this season. The introduction of Boufal is not really the panacea that was expected. I do feel sorry for both Austin and Long (both of whom are decent players) but they are never allowed to establish a rapport with either themselves or Gabbi and too often have to fight to win the ball themselves because the service is so poor. I can't recall Cedric ever finding a forward with his crossing this season.

At the end of the day, football need not be complicated and as long as the midfield is there to provide the forwards with the ball to score the results will turn. what concerns me is that Gabbi never gets the service and , too often, he is working as the lone striker. There is not much wrong with the defence and players like Davis and Romeu do not deserve to lose their place. For me, as a season ticket holder who does not go to away games, the home matches seem over-reliant on players who keep getting a chance but never perform. I would have to add JWP to that list too but otherwise I would agree that some of the academy players need a chance. Pellegrino needs to change things and demonstrate to the supporters that he has the ability to influence a match with his tactics and changes. after yesterday, I am less convinced that he can do this despite seeing some improvement in last season,
