Mingolet. 2 moments of heart rending Jesus Christ get rid of it slowness. Caught one, I was happy, the angle made that free vital he did come. 6/10

Gomez. Reasonable as a youngster come along, horrible error getting under ball as a supposed cb playing rb. Manned up a bit in the end I felt. 6/10

Moreno. One foul throw.. That's it, no errors, solid positioning just a good show 7/10

Matip. Hmmmm, lost the run of himself in second half, he was ok but didn't inspire confidence but he did lend height for once 6/10

Klavan... Must've been his dream game cos he hardly had a challenge for some reason, why Carroll didn't single him out I don't know..

Can. Did ok. I felt klopp pulled a little trick to say as outlined on tv. He manned up a bit with Carroll too. It all went a bit **** for a while in midfield early tbh. 6/10

Wijnaldum. Held position well, very much a typical showing, slow on ball but retained it as per. 6/10

Ox. For me klopp positioned him to push on and held the full backs deeper today. It made us more solid at the bavk and really helped the front line. He did ok today. 7/10. Vital goal

Mane. 2 assists, lots of fouls and ahem non fouls. Just back and made a huge difference to us. 8/10

Firmino. Ok, missed a huge chance, worked hard. 6.5/10

Salah. 2 goals, lots of threat. First was a tap in but it was a great break they worked together. Second was class. Confidence is building all the time 8/10

It was a very even game til that first goal

 

You would wonder, wouldn't you... we will have to see about injuries tbh but for now I think klopps found a little system to shut down the back line a bit.

 

Really don't like Firmino, do you?

 

Klopp says he was fantastic but that firmino was angry with himself for failing to score.

In the end he is no 9, made himself a great chance and missed is very badly. So he's got to be judged as a no 9.

 

Klopp on today:

"We had a few very difficult things to decide since yesterday. Bringing Sadio Mane in from the beginning after his injury, after one session and then yesterday the second session with the team, I never did it before, to be honest. Obviously it was not the worst idea I’ve ever had! We changed the system and yesterday was the first time we did it, 4-4-2, which looked maybe from the beginning like a very offensive line-up, we had a different idea - we wanted to defend deeper, more compact and using the space which we had for the counter-attacks. We will never know how it would have been if we don’t score the first one, I think it was kind of an open game up until then. We had to get used to it a little bit, it was difficult for the boys to wait a little bit more for the challenge than jump always."


The 442 was more like 424 with high press but the full backs were held bavk a bit and so cbs were not overly exposed.

Ox was actually much higher up.

 

It's just a number, and what counts is his overall contribution to the team - something you seem reluctant to give credit for, for some reason.
Of course he was angry with himself for missing - isn't that a good thing?

 

I suggested I Bilic as a future Liverpool manager when we sacked Kenny.

 

Firmino is not, nor ever will be, a no 9. A damn fine no 8, just like Kuyt , but never a 9. Please don't use the phrase "false 9" as I'll vomit.

Playing up front and knows he's employed to score goals then. If he was really angry post game then good for him.

He should have at least hit target after bursting into box like that. Great chance
