What kind of team should play against Exeter? I think this contest has to be taken seriously this year. But obviously it will be tempting for Dalglish to rest and experiment. But it wont take the strongest team to win this. So what kind of team do you think should play? I feel this could be a good one for Flanagan and Robinson, but I would keep a string CB in to. Doni should get a game in goal. I partly feel that if Poulson is going to sty he should be tested, but he may still leave yet, so we dont want him getting injured. With question marks over N'Gogs future, should he be risk. The same with Pacheco. It could be a good game for some players to boost their fitness. It could be a good run out for some players who have struggled recently. I'll say: -----------------Doni-------------- Flanagan-Kyrgiakos-Wilson-Robinson ---------Spearing----Shelvey------ -Maxi----------Meireles------Cole-- ----------------N'Gog------------- I think Exeter would really appreciate playing against this to.
After what happened last season with your club and the rather embarrassing defeat to Northampton I think you will go all out to prevent the same sort of thing this time.
I see it being the second string to but with some players looking to leave (if papers are right) It will give KK something to think about. In a way i would rather have Kenny rest the players from yesterday with 1 or 2 from yesterday being on the bench just in case they are needed for the rest i would go with the above line up
------------Doni-------------- Flanagan-Wilson-Skrtel-Aurelio* Maxi-Spearing-Shelvey-J.Cole -----Pacheco--------------- -------------N'Gog---------- *Aurelio if fit, Robinson is Aurelio isn't fit.
Kyrgiakos as captain I'd say. Subs: Jones, Aurelio, Skrtel, Lucas, Kuyt. Do you get 5 or 7 on the bench?
Carroll should play, give him a chance to score a couple and get some confidence. Plus he'd do my work fantasy team a hand by getting some extra points!
Not on the premier league one, but the one we do at work uses Europe and Cup games as well as league. I think the guy that does it basis it on the Sun (I know it's terrible but what can ya do).
What I like about the current Liverpool squad, and the fact we're not in Europe, is that we should take the cup competitions seriously. Last year's performance against Northampton was a disgrace, as was the team we put out. However now, with the strength of squad, I think we can change things almost completely from Saturday without relying on unproven youngsters or the sh*t we're trying to get rid of. How about this for a team: GK - Doni LB - Aurelio (if not fit, Robinson) CB - Skrtel CB - Wilson RB - Flanagan LM - Maxi CM - Spearing CM - Meireles RM - Shelvey AM - Pacheco ST - Kuyt Of the team that started on Saturday that would mean only one player retains his place - Kuyt, who has yet to complete a full 90 this season and will probably lose his place to Suarez/Carroll for the home game at the weekend. I think there's a blend of youth and experience there - I hate playing a completely untried back four for example. It's unfair to judge a team of youngsters when they're all playing together - see how they cope alongside some experienced heads. There's no "new faces" in there... i.e. Coady, Wisdom, etc... but it does utilise the youngsters who made the breakthrough last year - Spearing, Shelvey, Flanagan, Wilson, potentially Robinson. Also there's no place for the rubbish we're trying to get rid of - Poulsen, Cole, Degen, Ngog, Insua, Kyriagkos (OK we're not trying to get rid of him, but we should), etc, etc. What's the point in getting them cup tied or risking them getting injured (I'm looking at you Degen) before they potentially move on? I'd have Aquilani in the side ahead of Pacheco but it seems almost certain that Aquilani will leave this week. Stick five experienced heads on the subs bench "just in case"... and we're rolling.
Bit rich coming from you, when your team was taken to a replay in the FA Cup by the team featured in this thread. At the time Exeter were in the conference too. Luckily you got a replay rather than going to penalties.
From a saints fan we played them twice last season, they a tough team, big strong defence and can score goals. but that was last season, they lost few players, and had bad start (DLLL), i think your win with a weaken team, but your need to work hard to break them down, GK - Doni LB - Aurelio (if not fit, Robinson) CB - Skrtel CB - Wilson RB - Flanagan LM - Maxi CM - Adam CM - Meireles RM - Shelvey AM - Lucas ST - n Gog Good luck boys, few young player on the bench.
