Les especially always is when things aren't going well. When we're on a roll however... A penny for Mr Gao's thoughts.
I may be overreacting slightly, but I never had the feeling with Claude that he was out of his depth, in the same way I do with MP2. Sorry.
The first half was more encouraging than I’ve seen recently. We had a couple of good shots, looked more threatening in attack and seemed more confident. When gabbiadini came off we lost mobility and looked less threatening. The issue is not the manager (although there must be someone who can get a bit more out of them), the issue is our attacking midfielders are not good enough.
I guess it depends what he reasons are for buying the club. I know he was at the Man Utd game, but has he been to any others? (Genuine question). If Man Utd is the only game he has attended, then that says a lot to me about his reasons and intentions.
Exactly. It wasn't a bad performance, by recent standards. Up until the point when they had their one attempt on goal, and the inevitable happened. We are improving. Maybe not quickly enough, but we played better today than we did against West Brom. We need a new keeper though. One header on target from our opponents last week. The same this. A goal both times.
I reserve the right to completely change my mind and become his biggest fan if we go on a winning run though
Yeah put me in this group too, and that's 3 posters who most certainly aren't knee jerk. I'm not saying get rid, but nothing I've seen so far is giving me any confidence it will be turned around.
Any one know how Saints handle season ticket holders that can't go due to having Leukaemia? I am hoping they sell on or can give my dad a refund of the games left?
Time now for Mr.Chinaman to to start cracking the whip. The whole Board and management together with some players need their P45s.
I wouldn't be arsed if we sold a lot of the first team (keeping Lemina Romeu, Gabbi, Boufal, JWP, Hoedt as a base) and supplementing it with Academy products and get back to the original Cortese plan of having a team of home grown talent schooled in the Southampton way, regardless of league position. Fans would indentify and connect more with the team and pride in them being "our own" Edit: we would HAVE to buy a top class Keeper though.
I almost forgot, follow by: - Post match interview saying we didn't play how we know we can - twitter posts from players saying unlucky but thanks for the top support. - Sunday/Monday interview with player saying we need to do better and show our fans what we can do. - Saturday, play ****e again.
I'd call the club and explain the situation, might not do anything but you would like to think they could.
Our Academy isn't good enough for that at the moment, I don't think. Injuries have played a part, but it's concerning that there are very few Saints players in the England youth setup...none at the U-17s World Cup, one (Vokins) called up for the U-18s in September, no call-ups at the U-19 or U-21 levels this year, as far as I'm aware.
You're unlikely to get a connection with the club in the Premier League imo. I mean generally btw not just us.
Jack Stephens, Matty Targett, Sam McQueen, Josh Sims and Jake Hesketh are absolutely good enough IMO.
Sims is still out long-term, and Hesketh is only just getting back. I totally agree about integrating them when they return (and playing McQueen more, though that somewhat precludes Targett getting time), but our Academy overall isn't strong enough to form the backbone of a Premier League side at the moment.
