We have to hope that the international break has similar results to the last one. Farke has already said that the on-loan players will return to the club to be assessed before decisions are made on the second half of the season, potentially bringing Morris and Godfrey into the matchday squad
Add Murphy to the list of outs and you are just about there but is there any alternative? We are back to the 1960's when we sold high and replaced cheap - too average to go up but too good to go down. Unless Farke is a Ron Saunders we could be in for a long wait for improvement.
We're not very good are we, you continue to score as few as we do and it isn't just about poor finishing, the system ain't working, at least with the players at our disposal. ooo we'e scored bah!
Surely Farke has got to seriously review his striker options with the international break coming. He has Abraham and Morris? available if Oliveira is still not available. He should not play Jerome for the rest of this year as with only two goals so far this season and missing chances in most matches he is clearly not going to contribute goals to this team. Murphy scores, but it’s only consolation. Two goals in three games - one from Klose and one from Murphy. Will the return of Pritchard make a difference?
Why every single time a team is winless or bottom or not won at home or away for such and such. Why is it that we always lose!? It's not just a manager problem, or a system, or even players anymore, as we had a clear out. Bought in god knows how many. Why does this embarrassment always happen to our club?! That result is f*cking dire, and in no way unexpected.
I agree to a large extent with CS on Jerome, he cant be our best option can he? He works hard and makes us harder to beat they say, but does he? If your oppnent knows you have no threat up top, surely it's going to make it easier for them to go after us? I don't hate Jerome, he's a tryer, honest and has done ok for us in the past. But he is either over the hill or ineffective in the current system, maybe both. Time to try something new. Even our new found defensive resolve is gone, were we ever that good? we were still giving up good chances during our better spell, we were better but also lucky. I've seen us still look diabolical when the ball is in the air, the undefeated run smells like Hughtons run that was a meer hiatus from the dross served up before and after. DF needs to turn things round fast after the international break or the crowd may start to turn. I'm still on the fence with him, he still has so much to prove. Might he still be a great manager for us long term? Yes it's possible but it's also possible his brand of football just isn't right for the championship. The word that still keeps coming up in my mind is naive, can he learn and learn fast enough? Bah!
BBC stats show we had 67% possession...yet huffed and puffed sideways and backwards (I stayed away, no radio, nothing so that's a guess) and ultimately couldn't hurt a team who until 5 p.m., were propping up the division
He's blunt on his own. He could work WITH Nelson, or with a pacey striker running off him. On his own, he has nothing.
Exactly FML and I see his justification for putting out an almost 'first-team' V Arsenal, but IMO, it was the wrong option. Let's hope we at least have Tettey back for the visit of Barnsley and AP to return in time for Xmas. IMO, if Basil isn't fit to start when we face Barnsley, then give Abrahams a go, he at least gets into the anticipating a cross!!!!
Can't disagree with what you say but alternatives? Basil - not fit. Morris - not scoring for fun in a lower league. Abrahams - no experience at league level. New face in Jan - only affordable if all the outgoings make it viable. Watkins - can't do the job. Play one of our tall defenders up front - there's a thought. Raggett?
I seem to remember similar comments about Ruddy not being able to deal with crosses and not being good enough to be our keeper.
He couldn't and was borderline not good enough with his long term form. Raises plenty of questions about Costa del Colney. How can successive regimes continue to get things so wrong? JR needed a change and it seems to have worked for him, looked like he had gotten complacent, stale, too comfortable? who knows but I don' believe he would be better than Gunn had he stayed. Bah!
Unfortunately all true, I'd like to see Abrahams given a go, not because I know he's better suited to our system but when all others are failing, at least try someone new, his youthful exuberance might give him an edge? Its that or change the system, the system doesn't look so good or solid without Tettey anyway, time to try something that will give the opposition defence at least mild alarm. Bah!
Give anyone a go! Nelson is the only striker we have who scores! Who could do any worse than just keep missing!? Worth a go. Ipswich would do it, get goals and sell them for 10M. We'd probably bring in a 38 year old on a free rather than give youth it's chance.
I agree General that something has got to be tried because the failure to score has to be addressed but whatever is tried has to be given a few games to succeed and not scrapped after one game
By now, you all probably think I don't know a lot about football, and I don't. But, I don't see why Jerome couldn't learn another position such as DM. He has the athletesism.
Other Clubs have tried him as a winger without any success. We just have to accept that he is a workaholic up front who ties up defenders and creates space for others. A goalscorer he isn't, never was and never will be. Perhaps he will prove to be of greater worth when Pritchard returns and can make more use of the available space.
