With City releasing their annual accounts the grim reality of life in the championship has been a bitter pill to swallow. EDP deputy sports editor Mark Armstrong looks at six things we've learnt from the release of the accounts: http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spor...orwich-city-s-2016-17-accounts-mean-1-5261028 What angers me most about the debt is the severance pay paid out to Poxy Moxey of £700K after he had only been in the job for a few months & done nothing & the payout to Alex Neil & his staff for a season of failure
Pay-outs to failing managers seems to be a fact of life for all teams, and surely that's down to poor contract negotiations during the hiring process. Given our circumstances and a better than average chance of us not going up this season, it does sound like we'll need to sell one or two prized assets in order to break even. The two plus points for me are an academy that appears to be producing some decent youngsters and the likelihood that we'll be able to pluck some more promising Germans at bargain prices over here through our coaching team's connections.
Absolutely Jedi and let's hope that lessons have been learnt for the future. That is certainly true HQMC and I would have loved t have seen some of them more involved in the recent Carabao cup campaign, but DF obviously had other ideas. The understanding between the likes of Middleton and Abrahams for the under 23s is great and it was as a result of Abrahams lurking around the 6 yard box that forced Saints defenders to concede two OGs from Middleton's crosses. Odusina, Aransibia, Mourgos and Fonkeu are all part of our future IMO and that's not considering all of the players on loan - Efete, Godfrey, Morris, Adams etc. Excellent read here on the strengths of our under 23s - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...oom-for-just-a-tiny-bit-of-little-ol-norwich/
I read somewhere that your wage bill was £55m (which I can only assume includes some severance payments and perhaps before some outgoings in the summer).. That is astronomical compared to our (supposed) £16m wage bill and the league average of £22m. I notice that you have poached our Head of Academy recruitment.. Though also heard you'll be downgrading to Cat 2 next summer as well, not that it matters, it hasn't really held us back. But it's interesting that both clubs are looking to utilise the academy system better (albeit out of necessity) which will test the patience of the fans if the performances aren't up to the standard you demand
What has happened to Jarvis - anyone know? The accounts do show the grim reality of our situation and, of course, it gets far worse after this season. Do the majority of City fans realise what this will mean in hard terms - I very much doubt it!!
