Science can't disprove god? According to christiany and islam god is a being that is everywhere, is responsible for everything, has created everything out of nothing, knows everything, can do anything, but is invisible unless he chooses to reveal himself to people which he apparently hasn't done for a while. I think the existence of such a being contradicts just about every scientific theory there is. Besides it's very flawed logic to ask for science to disprove god when the burden of proof is all on your shoulders, religious folks. You can't prove Harry Potter doesn't exist, that's no reason to believe he does.
If the Big Bang Theory is the only explanation for the origin of the Universe then why are there other theories such as the Big Bounce, The Many Bang Theory, Inflationary Theories, The Cyclic Universe Theory etc? How about the various theories as to what triggered the Big Bang? Scientists have been wrong before (the most famous cases being the thought that the Earth was flat, or that the Atom was the smallest particle), is it therefore not possible that Science could be wrong again?
They are supported little or no evidence, and if you looked into them, you'd say that several of those incorporate the Big Bang anyway. Irrelevant as to whether it happened.
All of those theories are variations on the Big Bang, though. Theists will always move the goalposts whenever science advances. They make claims about things and then when we find out how they really work, they move back a step. 'God created the universe in 6 days.' 'The universe was created by the Big Bang and it took a lot longer than six days.' 'God used the Big Bang to create the universe and the six days are metaphorical.'
Whilst we're talking about a big bang theory, going off topic a touch, but the blonde in the big bang theory is really hot.
Does anyone on here honestly believe that anyone will change their minds about their faith (or lack of it) on the strength of anything any of you say on here?
I am a big "fan" of Science but probably have less knowledge of science than some people on here. My point was just that some people claim science to disprove the existence of God when it doesn't. I'm not saying that proves that Science is wrong, Scientific theories are wrong or that God exists and I admit that I can't prove the existence of God I can only go by what I believe in. The thing that annoys me is atheists who belittle and mock those who do believe in God and I get equally annoyed by Bible bashers and religious nutters. I try not to impose my beliefs on others and I don't criticise peiple who don't believe in God (most of my friends don't believe in God) so I wouldn't expect to be mocked for believing in God. Another thing that annoys me is people who try and use the bible to prove when the World will end even though the Bible says that no-one knows when it ends The whole 2012 End of the World stuff is complete horse **** too.
Probably not, but it's interesting to see how people try to back up their faiths through logic and science.
Some people are fickle. If i got a celebrity to go round saying that god isn't real, you know that some of the posters would immediately change their views.
Aren't you mocking those that claim that the world will end in 2012 by calling their belief horse ****?
I just get fed up with people who go on about the end of the World being nigh and harping on about 2012 every time a bloody Volcano erupts. Yeah because that's not happend before
Family? How is that based upon faith? Loyalty is based upon evidence. You use your judgement and a mental record of people's actions to determine whether you believe that they will be loyal. If somebody repeatedly acts in a disloyal manner, then you don't still have faith in their loyalty, for example.
