Not really. People have different gradings of what is important to being a good manager so of course its subjective and will be a debate that will rage on.

Just as i do not rate Gerrard as world class (maybe the a world class utility player or a world class all rounder) as he was never the best in my view in a specific position

Well, there is no objective truth, but often people refuse to back down even when there is.

 

i wouldn't class myself as a fan boy. Maybe more pro Jose but as for Pep, if he had done it without spending 400m i might have conceded. As of now, he's only a very very good manager but i would never class as the best.

Pains me to say but i would probably class Alex as the best even though he didnt win the CL more. Would have been good for him to have tested his metal at foreign clubs but to rebuild a club over and over, especially during the 2000's he did remarkable

If we were midtable I'd want us to chase the best available from around the continent.

But we're in the bottom 3 and we need to get safe before any plans beyond that are even contemplated, which makes the decision a tough one, as the temptation will be to go for a safety first appointment, that could end up being counter productive in the medium term.

Why won't we go down?

We can't score and we're leaking goals like a sieve. Our form is relegation form, losing is a habit and we've definitely got it bad. There's every chance we could go down unless something dramatically changes.

 

totally agree with this, you don't even have that "star" player that can just pull you out of the **** either (well proven at everton).

I could easily see you going down with the balance that is in your side. Even your defence can't be relied upon (3 are the wrong side of 30s esp williams and jags, defenders fall off a cliff when they get bad and keane who could be a good prospect could quite easily be a dud considering he was bought from burnley)

Well Bobby, if I was a neutral minded person just trying to find info and stats about Gerrard I think your opinion would fall into a very large column of non professional fans of other clubs with agendas for not rating him as world class, but if I looked at what his fellow professionals thought of him I'd be left being in no doubt he was world class, Spiteful Fergie once described Gerrard as "not a top top player", that comment was based purely on Gerrard letting us know about Fergie enquiring about signing him for the mancs and what Gerrard said in response and also to sell his umpteenth biography.

But that's just me and my bias view Bobby.

Everyone from 13th down has varying problems with either scoring, conceding or both. Personally just think your squad is better than most around you.

No Europe to worry about so not disadvantaged against the teams currently around you.

to be fair i've thought of the midfield role in the past as more than just a goalscoring role. If its any consolation i never thought of fat frank as world class either.

Both very very good players who would get into most teams but wouldn't have made my top 10 players in midfield i reckon. Especially hard now that eras off legends overlap (i rated vieira, and keane higher when he first broke out, zidane etc and then xavi iniesta and co in the 2nd half etc etc).
