O'shea has played 25 of the 34 games this year in the league. In those 34 games we've won three and conceded 50. Away from the stats we've looked all over the shop. Not sure where this organiser angle comes from. Just don't see it mate.
Everyone starts somewhere, he'd be caretaker for me ahead of Stockdale and McKinley. 3 or 4 games and we would know if he had what it takes .
I quite like O'Shea but he's been at the heart of our defence for eons and we are shipping goals for fun. As club captain and a main man in our defence he should be organising things out on the pitch when he's playing which he obviously isn't doing, and I've absolutely no faith in that changing should he get the managers job. Who do we get in as the new manager...I've no idea but we need someone unconnected to the club previously we need a clean break and get someone in who has experience of this league, someone like Simon Grayson.....oh hang on a bit, see what I mean finding a new manager isn't going to be easy but JOS is not the answer for me.
Disagree about the organiser bit. Where was his organisation immediately after we go 2-1 up, game management is none existant, he's the on field general and he's terrible at it.
How do you “organise” for a poor back pass? Or fir the rest of the team (midfield/left back) just wandering away instead of watched my the game? Prior to us signing Kaboul he was always centre half and we always looked better with him in the team. Just think he communicates better with other defenders. Only an opinion. He’s never had pace and he’s lost what little he had. But he wins most headers put his way and gets rid of the ball. You can’t organise for a mistake. First 2 were mistakes.
The third was the backpass from Ndong, I'm well aware he can't do anything about Ndong being **** too. The second was the result of absolute panic within.
No controversy to me as he is a respected figure in the upper echelons of football and he was brought up in a quality football environment at Manchester United. I feel if people object to him as being a ringleader to player power I would rather have that influence being to turn the club into a positive successful winning team.
And has been a positive influence at the club for years - don't forget when he was signed his career was nearly over
Totally agree but Keane had no football management when we got him but man management is a key part and contacts - JOS has both these No problem for me to give him a chance - experienced managers fail here so why not ??
Keane was inexperienced but was well backed by the club to bring players in and he had the advantage of coming to the club as an outsider with an aura about him which lifted the whole place. Neither of those things will apply if O'Shea gets the job, if we take a chance on someone without experience I'd rather see some one with a winners reputation or a link to the club just to give the place a lift in the way that Keane did.
He was 30, in his prime for a central defender. If I was an incoming manager, I'd want everyone associated with the di Canio mutiny out of the club. If they feel that they can oust one manager, they'll feel entitled to do it to another.
Great thread Cest, my thoughts on JoS are well documented, and the sooner JoS and Catts are out of this club the better, I only proposed him as manager a while back to get him off the pitch, but having carefully read through this thread the sooner he's gone and his lieutenant with him the better. The only time we have looked organised is when he hasn't had any influence whatsoever, ie when Kone and Kaboul played with M'Villa and Kirchoff in the DM roles. Those days seem like a lifetime away, thanks for the memories.
Disagree totally. They ousted do canio as he was a complete loon. List the plot. Simon Jordan said exactly that as he looked at him at SAFC and loved his ideas but thought he treated the players with utter disdain. (Was talking about it this morning) If your manager treats you like **** you do all you can to get rid. Happened where I used to work. Di Canio has also been unable to find a job since which tells me he’s not capable. The “mutiny” was a group of players who had won no games all season and were being dictated to. I’d have mutinied too!!
The rights or wrongs of the mutiny aren't the issue here though. It's the fact that they undermined a manager and may think its ok to do it again. All di Canio was asking for was for the players to show discipline and passion. He was on the side of the fans who deserve that the players show such things. I agree that he may be a difficult character but he is the kind of person that I would run through walls for. Read his books, listen to the fans of clubs where he has been a legend, get to know the man. He's anything but a loon; he's extremely disciplined, dedicated, and passionate. His only problem is that he expects others who are handsomely paid for it to show the same attributes.
