So, it's the CL final and there is a player on the bench that the manager as no intention of playing. The other teams star playing is running the show. Said manager sends that player on (not as a sub) to kick the **** out of the other teams star player in an attempt to stop their domination.

What you're saying would mean no punishment that effects that game!

The intention of a red card is to punish the player not effect the game

 

You could use the argument that a sub has been used if he's been dismissed, so would make sense to give them one less change I suppose...

No excuse for what Evra did, he had the option to go to the police, go to the dressing room or ignore the fans giving him stick or go to a different area of the pitch, but he chose to confront them and Kung Fu kick one.
Very reckless, could have caused a riot and caused his teammates to get involved or attacked.

Hope they come down hard on him, he richly deserved it.

 

I agree that you should be down to 2 subs.
Making the team kick-off with 10 would hardly be fair on the player who was hooked.

I said a 3 match ban is the usual punishment for a red card, I also pointed out it is meant to punish the player not the team.
Cantona got a 9 month ban for attacking a supporter, not for the red card he received prior to that, Evra could well get the same or more but again that will not be the punishment for the red card.
If he gets banned for 9 months do you think the team should have to start with 10 players for that long

 

Why are people talking about bans?
