Because every defender we sign ends up being worse than him. We weren't exactly blessed before him either to be honest, anton ferdinand, titus bramble, steve caldwell were all pretty ****e and probably worse than o'shea.

Egomaniac or possibly a senior first teamer who spoke on behalf of his team mates? Just playing devils advocate here only the players will know his true role in that dressing room.

That's the thing though, we don't need someone to speak on behalf of their teammates, we need a team who will shut the **** up and do what they're told to the best of their abilities. If he's the head of the snake then cut that **** off and let the rest of them fall into line. There's clearly something wrong at the club and it seems to centre around the playing staff.

Didn't they sign at the same time? But yeah wes was a better player when he was fit, his legs went before o'sheas like.

A center back pairing of titus bramble and steve caldwell in their prime would be pretty solid in this league. O'shea implodes every game.

And half a decade of failing defence with our club captain at the heart of it, not always in games(but is poor every game he plays) but with his coaching badges, always in training sessions. His influence has to be questioned if he's being touted for the role, he's been knee deep in it since he came.

O'shea in his prime or even 2 or 3 years ago would boss this league, whoever we play at the back implodes so far this year.

He was poor then imo, no faster either. He's got his coaching badges(All of them as of this year), he's club captain, what's he doing on the training ground to help our defence? Our defence has been **** as long as he's been here, he's been club captain all but one year and working on said badges the whole time he's been here. I surgest he's poor on the training ground and dressing room as he is on the pitch. If he can't organise the defense with him in it what hope has he from the touchline? Defending corners and organising for them should be his bread and butter, more so than the average experienced defender Nah, mate, each to their own but he's not my cuppa like.

It was OShea on pitch responsibly to manage the game on Tuesday night. Specifically after we go ahead, settle the lads down, take your time etc etc. We then give the softest goal imaginable away 2 mins later.

Said it on another thread, he couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.

Other than the PDC thing when has o'shea spoken for the team other than the usual bulshit press commitments that the club make him do? Genuine question because i don't know.

Theres a lot wrong at this club Short, Bain, the players, previous managers, past recruitment. I don't see how it's fair to pinpoint o'shea for blame in amongst all of that ****e.

He's club captain, speaking for the team is part of his job description.

Not going off much to be fair but I've heard several times over the years from different sources that he's a figurehead for the players.

And what Bri said, forgot about that.

We'll have to disagree on how good a player he's been for us then mate, i think he's been a steady solid player during a **** time for the club and you clearly disagree. But i totally agree that i don't want him managing us either mate.

Nutshell right there. I personally think oshea will make a very good manager at some point. But never should we be their first.

The one thing oshea has over the likes of Phillips, Bally etc is that a lot already dislike him so the fans won't have a mixed feeling about blaming him for the ****. Phillips, when things went wrong (which they would) would end up hating it here as our lovely support would turn on him too eventually. He'd just get a couple of months more than oshea (hod be lucky to get 2 games off most)

I like oshea as a player too. He is an "organiser" nothing spectacular but a decent reader of the game and a good defender. At least 5 times the lads in the north stand around me got on his back for him putting the ball in the crowd against Bolton. Ndong ballsed up with the back pass (I feel for him a little as I didn't see the lad coming either) so what should oshea do for these people? Try the difficult back pass or pass or defend first and regroup?

What about the countless times that he gets caught ball watching, despite his experience, or his inability to clear the ground when he 'jumps'.
