But important to avoid complacency. We simply have to get something from the Sevilla match. If we lose, we will under pressure with Spartak. Very unpredictable team. They could easily be rolled over but on their day they could be formidable.

 

Imagine if we'd played a scratch team and come unstuck.

Remember we drew both matches against them so a win shouldn't be taken for granted.

We were supposed to have the easiest group to come out of. We've got to congratulate Spurs. Real may not be the force it was last year but to beat them 3-1 in the CL is a great performance. City beat a very strong Napoli away but for me a draw and a win against Real must the performance of the round.

 

Utd's group was just as easy.

Yep, we were just ahead of the mancs: 92%vs 90%. Both very easy groups.
They are 99% through as top, baring some exceptional catastrophe.

 

Don’t forget that atletico Madrid draw against minnows, as did Dortmund. Real Madrid drew against Spurs at Home (spurs are good but Real should still be winning).

We should be beating Maribor but nothing is given.

We did our job but we make it difficult. Another missed penalty ( I think we’ve missed the last 4!) and our midfield is just not aggressive enough.

Yep. A draw to Seville will make us comfortable. but we would still need to win against the Russians to go top.

I don't get why Firmino was taken off penalty duty? His pens were decent, by far the best from what I've seen from the rest.

 

With almost all the English clubs coming first, then we would be fighting for the "good" teams. We would have a 33% chance of getting either Basel or Porto and 67% of getting one of the others i.e Bayern, Juve, Real, Shaktar

As second, we have a 50% chance of getting either Besiktas or Roma and 50% PSG or Barca.

On purely probability calculations It would be better to finish 2nd
