Can you name me any other manager that plays with a more attacking formation away from home though?

But to not attack at all. What kind of signal does that send out. Joselu is a defensive forward. At best. Then perez Rafa basically said he's just a grafter in the no 10 position which in my mind is a piss take. That's a key roll. Then there's playing Diame. What purpose does this lad have other than to do **** all. Your taking out three keys positions in a game where you need a bit of quality. Our spine of the team was geared around hard work and no quality.

We had identical attacking stats to Burnley tonight: 12 shots, 5 on target, 3 off target, 4 blocks for each team. We had more possession too. We just didn't have any quality in the last third. Rafa has had our tactics spot on this season. I remember several games ago saying, well it was another tight game which have won this time but there will be ones we don't win like this. That is tonight's game. Take it on the chin and move on to the next one.

Joselu, Perez and Diame are ****e.

    Mitrovic or Gayle for Joselu
    Murphy for Perez
A lump of **** for Diame. He is worse than Sissoko and that is saying something

While the performance was very disappointing in many ways, losing to Burnley is not something to get overly disappointed by. They are a better version of us with more Premier League experience. Hard to break down and score against, but limited quality going forward compared to some other Premier League teams - limited, but not as limited as us. Both managers set their teams up to be difficult to beat, and both try to pinch games with low possession stats. They did it better than us tonight, but could have been the other way around if one of our shots had gone in first.

We've both conceded 9 goals in out first ten games and have the joint 4th best defence in the league (on goals conceded). We've actually scored one more goal than them, but they have probably had a more difficult fixture list so far.

Our stats may not look quite as impressive once we've played Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs away, but our goal this season is staying out of those bottom three places. Burnley's goal is to build on managing to do that already.

I agree. But we lack any quality. It's dire. We are bottom of most state negative wise this season and how we are where we are is beyond me.

    Bottom three in:

    Possession.
    Shots.
    Shots off target.
    Shots on target.
    Passing completion.

Pretty sure Leicester was the bottom of a lot of these. Team ethic is important, as is the system. If mourinho's top of the league nobody has much to say about negativity, yet he's only meeting expectations. Rafa is exceeding them currently.

It all just sums up what an insufferably useless pile of steaming ****ing crap Mike Ashley is as an owner. Benitez has this Championship team in the top 10, with almost no ability to score goals at PL level. He found Merino and Lejeune, has Lascelles, Shelvey and even Atsu playing well, yet because he was given peanuts to spend we have Joselu up front and a makeshift No10, plus no real battler in CM and a RB at LB. If Ashley had just fronted £30m or so, still pittance in real terms, we could genuinely be another 7-9 points better off and almost certainly safe.

It's this utter lack of comprehension that marks Ashley out as a complete twat.

Considering some of the kicks that Joselu took I doubt that Mitrovic would have been on the pitch as he would have retaliated, Dean let at least one go that was a yellow card all day.

    Not catastrophic BUT...

To slow on the subs again Rafa, Ayo should have been hooked on 60 then the rest can wait till 70/75mins but making your first sub at 76mins leaves your subs barely 15 mins to get into and make an impact on the game. I've been saying this about 12 months now.

Mitro > Joselu - your entitled to your opinion but if you don't agree your wrong - been eating my muslie. Joselu is utter jank, personally rather have Haidara up top.
Diame > Hayden - Rafa got this one wrong. If you wanted Diame in there drop Perez as he's been off the boil the last 2/3 games but we lacked a DM/holding CM yesterday.

Against a team like Burnley I'd have gone with Mbemba at Right back and Clark left back (Clark over Manqullio every day incidentally) as Burnley were only ever going to score from a cross/set piece.

Need to beat Bournemouth now as its a hard slog up till Xmas after that, Man U, Watford, West Brom, Chelsea, Leicester, Everton, Arsenal and West Ham

True but we might have been 2-0 up by then. Those defenders were asking to be bullied. Instead, they ended up with a soft lump.

No comparison between Joselu and Mitrovic. The former couldn't even get in Stoke's team and they were quick to get shot. The latter - banging them in for his country, is an absolute nightmare to play against.

Perez - He is just ****. I don't care about his work rate [which is questionable anyways.] He offers nothing. No creativity, no end product, loses the ball, falls on his face like a little baby and goes missing. Whatever potential he had has long gone.

Diame - Should not be anywhere near the first team. He makes Moussa Sissoko look energetic. Can't control a football, can't pass, can't tackle, can't shoot. Hell he can't even run. He actually reminds me of Geremi. ****. Utter ****ing ****. That is being unkind to **** as well.

I don't think the point was ever whether Mitro is better than Joselu. He clearly surpasses him in every last form of attack.
But he doesn't in defence and that's Rafa's system. He's got a **** team to 9th, personally I'm not that interested in denoting rafa's achievements by saying we'd magically be 4th because we change Mitro out for Joselu. That ruins the defence and he doesn't make up in attack enough to ignore that shortfall. He's drilled us in defence to the point our striker hold a massive importance to keeping it tight.
To be honest a team like this will do better against the big teams anyways, kept Liverpool relatively quiet

Sorry lads but let's chill it on Mitro.

Joselu may be gash but that doesn't mean Mitro is much better, because he isn't really.
