To be totally honest, if a oligarch or Chinese zillionaire came in and bought FSG out, my philosophy would be that we've tried the "spending what we earn" policy for long enough and it hasn't worked on a consistent basis, also, why should we watch the likes of City or Chelsea sail off into the sunset every season, the history books will show they won trophies not that their owners bought success, that'll be down to us and the likes of us bleating about it on social media.
Maybe... or maybe they are not really good enough for committed enough. It's obviously a very hard thing and ultra competitive environment but we all know the score the same was everyone else. That team is nowhere near good enough and we lea e guys in there that are proven not good enough
That's how I've always felt. Days of winning based on what you earn is long gone. It's nice to be all sentimental and Holier Than Thou, but it means perpetual mediocrity.
I'd accept it, but I wouldn't like it. It would seem hollow to me. I'd much rather effective rules were employed to prevent the mega-rich from buying their success than everyone else trying to emulate it.
But tbf, there will be no effective rules brought in to prevent it saint, the club's(including the nouveau riche)have too much power these days, the old adage might as well apply, "if you can't beat 'em join 'em".
I understand the logic - I'll just never like it. It's a bit like the US and its guns - rather than effectively control them "let's just all have 'em so we're not at a disadvantage" Too much money is ruining the game, imo, and so bringing even more into it isn't the answer.
Just seen on Sky Sports that Klopp as said the team is good enough to be top. Now, I understand trying to big up the players but blatant outright lies like this? Surely even the players don't buy it?
In all fairness mate, until Klopp wins a trophy it matters not if we play a slightly better way than under Rodgers, like I said earlier im not advocating getting rid of Klopp but I honestly believe we are in need of success and not just playing prettier football, I(like you)have watched us play Good, Bad and ugly under many managers but at the end of the day a club like ours shouldn't go on as long as this without silverware. Yep it's not our God given right to win silverware but after the amount of money we've thrown at it in recent years we should expect a better return than we've had. Apart from that I think everything's tickety boo.
I'd call that a bit of bluster rather than an outright lie. Tbh, I really don't care how much he bullshits the media, as long as he knows privately that he has to improve. His policy is not to undermine his players - in public at least. I'm ok with that.
Reached a couple of cup finals and qualified for CL within two seasons. No longer reliant on one player (Suarez). And you can argue that Klopp is up against stronger competition with the likes of Mourinho, Pep, Conte and Poch. Yes - Klopp has made us better, but I was hoping we would have been better going into this season.
Brendan Rodgers expresses regret over Liverpool transfer failure - 'We needed a world-class operator' http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...rendan-rodgers-expresses-regret-over-13834800
We're in exactly the same position we've been for 5-6 years plus in terms of the football ... the only difference is Klopp brings charisma, charm, good will from fans and the likeability factor whereas Rodgers just started to grate more and more over his tenure and the fan base turned on him But the problem isn't solely the manager or players. It's absolutely to do with transfers and transfer policy in terms of who is responsible for that outside the manager and coaches and how we go about business
