I don't understand why we nearly always try and rely on the wing players to cross, because most of the time we don't have a target man to receive it, and they are mostly poor crosses because we don't have a target man. Bring back Pelle and Viktoria - now she would have scored :)

We looked well in control for long periods in that first half without ever looking that dangerous. Not read the whole thread but a few pages just after the match ended and am surprised that there isn't post after post after post about Fraser.

Yes we played badly, yes we took our foot of the gas and as usual tried to defend a lead but that was 2 points lost by Fraser.......again. No idea if this is down to his injury or my suspicion that he was made to look good in front of a good defence. He wasn't all that last season but this season he has been atrocious.

Pretty much agree with other posters r.e. Tadic should be on the left and other things but then we are just repeating what we have said since Koeman on that one.

To blame for their goal, not to blame for that result.

We lost the 2 points because we didn’t score enough goals to win the game. You can’t single out the goalkeeper to blame for a lethargic display in midfield and up front, and some inept defending.

Gee wiz what’s with all this criticism of Forster?
For goodness sake he has saved Saints a lot more than he has lost games!! No doubt he has made mistakes what goalie hasn’t? He is the best we have and although we hope he doesn’t have too many bad days we have to expect the odd one...

That's precisely why I don't blame Forster for costing us two points. At 1-0 we should have been looking to kill the game off before half time.

    #TheSouthamptonWay ... always have a scapegoat.

Forster, Guly, Pelle all spring to mind in recent times.

Saints aren't like friends....we can drop if they let us down. Saints are more like family....you are stuck with them and hope that they will come good. A bit like a sibling that stays clean for a few years, but keeps having to go back into rehab.

Forster didn't cost us 2 points in the sense that we shouldn't have just sat back and defended what we had after the 7th minute. But if we are going to play that way then you have to be able to rely on your keeper to make some saves. Which is what makes the decision to sit back even more bizarre. I can't remember many "great save" moments from him this season and can remember a few "my word, wtf is he doing" moments. His confidence is shot, injuries have destroyed what little agility he had and he quite simply is not a PL level goalkeeper any more.

It's simple, Forster was rubbish, but so was everyone else. :)

One thing Brighton learned not do was give another free kick away in JWP's range, one thing we didn't do is give them the opportunity by running at them in that area.

Its probably a pardox to managers who think of prowse as a central attacking midfielder. You bring on a player who can put in deady free kicks but then you stop getting them because youve just put Prowse in the position you want to win them in and he doesn't ever run at players <doh>.

very noticeable to me that the free kick came from prowse drifting to the right and passing to Boufal who had drifted to the middle. Didn't see that happen again.

Yeah I think we need to see Boufal more centrally, operating in that area just outside the box. He can shoot, and has two feet which is more than Davis or JWP. I'd probably play jwp right wing, Boufal central and tadic left.

Reference the stick being given to Forster.
Just watched Saturday’s MOTM. In the game between Utd and Spurs both Lloris and De Gea lost control of the ball, and both could have conceded goals as a direct result of it, had luck not been on their side.
Forster just seems to be having one of those runs of form where every error, or perceived error, is being punished with a goal.
