I'm going to assume we don't buy anyone until we have CL qualification and base these on what we currently have: For Udinese- -----------------RVP------------------- Gervinho------------------------Walcott ----------------Nasri------------------- ---------Frimpong----Song------------- Jenkinson--Vermaelen--Djourou----Sagna ----------------Szczesny--------------- Although Sagna was admirable at left back yesterday, I'd rather play Jenkinson there as that way we're playing one reasonable left back and one world class right back, instead of one good left back and one reasonable right back. Ramsey, although I'm a big fan of his, has been average. He desperately needs to learn from a good team. You know, someone like Kaka who can teach him. Nasri will be good in the front 4 as an AM, not a playmaker in the mould of Cesc. The last time we won the league we had two players in midfield like Frimpong and Song. Vieira and Gilberto. Not comparing quality though. Especially for a game where we don't want to concede, having these two will serve us wonders. I'd be confident that this team could win on the night, let alone overall. For United- -------------Walcott---------------- -----------------------RVP------------ Nasri----------------------------Ryo/AOC -------------Lansbury--Ramsey------ Jenkinson---Vermaelen---Djourou---Sagna -----------------Szczesny-------------- Do we really have much choice? We have no defensive midfielder. Coquelin is away on international duty and, even if we can call him back, he will not be ready for this game. Away. At Old Trafford. A 4-4-2. We could also play Bendtner here and move Walcott back onto the wing. However, if we "play it safe" we will undoubtedly lose. We just will. If we rock the boat enough, maybe United will fall into the water. Play Walcott centrally, we've got little to lose. Unleash Ryodinho. Play him on whichever side will pit him against the twins, Evra will be too wise for him. In midfield, it is conservative. Lansbury is a good passer of the ball, a really good player. Not ever going to be world class, but he's useful, and can make the hollywood pass. United won the league with Carrick in midfield, we're only asking Lansbury to win this game. I see this as a game where we have everything to win and nothing to lose. Because, in this state, we certainly should lose. Play a 4-4-2. Put Walcott in the middle. Unleash our Japanese wonderkid. Change the kit to a clown costume and have our wall do YMCA whenever we defend free kicks. Do anything to wrong foot SAF and, failing that, wrong foot his players.
Shouldn't Wilshire be making a appearance soon? I think your formations and choices of personel are very good on the whole. We should play on the counter attack/go for a draw in both games. A midfield of Frimpong and Song against Udinese should give us more cover from midfield than we have had in years and Walcott up front against Man u will prevent them from pushing too high up the pitch.
If Wilshere is back then substitute him in for Lansbury. I don't want him to play against Udinese though.
Because of the money gained from qualifying for the champions league I regard the Udinese game as more important than the man utd one.
It's not that. I think we'd be better off not playing him in that game. I'd much rather see the team I put above for it. Nasri up front will be able to play his favourite role, which is different to the one we seem to think he wants. It's not a case of wanting to protect Wilshere for United, more of how to go about each game.
Will Nasri be playing for us by then? We might not do it because if he is ruled out of european competitions it will reduce his price tag.
a 442 is the only way, the problem being that when we played 441 after frimpong's sending off, the CMs didn't track back, allowing meireles to recieve the ball and play to the offside suarez. then ramsey had noticed and came back too late, and was taken by surprise. i blame him and the linesman for that goal. i feel that we should stick to the 433/4231, and play CB in the DM position, as they won't have problems staying back. if djourou is back, he should play there, as when he first came to us that was his position.
If Djourou plays there, and Koscielny doesn't recover, we either play Squillaci or Miquel. Even if Wenger plays Miquel, he isn't quick. Against a slow side like Liverpool, it's not such a danger. Against United, it's lethal.
What about Koscielny at DM? He's pretty good in possesion, and got a bit of pace. Play Djourou alongside the verminator.
Second phase of play. Suarez was offside however the ball was payed to Meireles (who was onside), who then passed it backwards, which means it can't be offside. First goal was offside though.
