And those players underperform in a turgid, boring style. Similar to how saints are playing at the moment.
All I can picture is the League cup final, when this same team played united off the park for long spells. I know that's a one off, but we do have a lot of quality in our side - more than we are showing. The difference is intensity and speed on the break.

Bertrand has escaped criticism as well, he could have closed down the cross for the goal

 

Our played really should be Kaned after yesterday's performance.

Totally agree. And why is Cedric left marking their ‘big guy’? Not the first time this has happened.

 

Agree with most of this. There have been a few periods this season when I think we've actually looked quite good. The problem is that these periods only seem to last 10 minutes and are often towards the very end of a game, generally when we've gone behind. Yesterday we did the opposite for whatever reason. For me that's what's so frustrating.

It's also fine for the manager to say after the game that we shouldn't have sat back after scoring but what was he doing during the game? I distinctly remember Alan Smith on commentary saying something along the lines of "I'm not sure why Southampton have backed off but Pellegrino seems happy for his side to play this way. He's certainly not on the touchline shouting at his players to play further up the pitch."

 

Witty bunch over on Saintsweb. They have started calling MP "Puellegrino".

 

Well Cedric is our right back. So he was in the right place really. In fact I would argue that he did his job in making it hard for the goalscorer.

I'm sorry but that's an easy enough save for our keeper to make.

 

Maybe they should talk to a few Leicester fans.

 

Seems like the majority over there want him gone now. Think he is clueless and out of his depth. They also hate VVD and Bertrand as they are just coasting and all our attacking players are ****. Seems like the only player anyone seems to like is Lemina. See how long that lasts when he asks to leave in the summer.

Meanwhile I’m not saying that Cedric wasn’t doing his job, he did as well as he could. The point is how did our two big centre backs get drawn away from the far post?

The CB are meant to be in the middle of the box. It's just what happens when you also have a very short RB. Any good ST will recognise that and pull off onto the back post to take advantage.

 

All the defending for the goal was a bit rubbish. Which is a shame because we defended well mostly. Maybe, and I know this is controversial, it would help if we scored more goals.

 

Its not that we didn't score more, its that we barely tried. That's what I'm finding it hard to deal with.

 

It’s times like this when I really appreciate Sky for putting up their prices to watch their tv then I really don’t have the problem of shouting at Saints when they put in an inept performance .
