It pays not to read the Sun - they didn't do their homework, as usual.

The Caraboa Cup is taking part in a trial of a proposed new law - to allow an extra sub in extra time.

Norwich being promoted would also give me an opportunity to visit my Aunt and Uncle in the away game. They live about 10 - 15 minutes walk from Carrow Road. Unfortunately, my Uncle probably wouldn't be able to go to the game because he needs operations on both knees but because he's having treatment for cancer and has type 2 diabetes, the hospital refuses to let him have them. He is a lifelong WFC fan and seems to have a habit of living near grounds - when I was young, they lived in Cardiff Road.

Morning all, another misty start to the day here, and it doesn't feel that warm. I have just noticed that the Wisteria is making a bid to take over the pear tree, also heading up the barn roof. Out with the ladder I think.

My understanding of that rule is that is the only sub allowed in extra time and both Arsenal and City had unused subs from normal time that they used in extra time.

No - they are allowed four subs during a match that goes to extra time, but the fourth is only allowed on during extra time. The others are allowed on at any stage of the match, including extra time. In the previous round, Bournemouth brought on two during extra time - and Leeds brought on all four.

What could possibly have gone wrong?

The junkies and sex fiends in control of Trident have been sacked - so I suppose we can all sleep soundly in our beds tonight. Unless, of course, there are more who haven't been caught yet...

    Sweet dreams all. <grr>

By the time that they reacted it would be too late to divert the procession

At first I thought that too - but back then it wasn't really easy to make that sort of mistake as international calls had to be made via an operator. IDD between USA and UK was only introduced in 1970 - and even then it was only between New York and London.

Morning all from Jersey. I think it's been raining overnight. Was too tired to change my alarm clock before I went to bed last night and thought that I'd woken up at 6.40.

Afternoon all. Grey with drizzle today which once again is stopping me from doing outside jobs. The forecast suggested that there should be some sunny periods, but so far none. I am not sure why but we have nine clocks on the go, all of which had to be changed. It will be easier next spring.

Morning all. The wind has changed direction coming down from the north. This has brought about the first movement of cranes as they migrate south for the winter. Very often you can hear them coming before you actually see them as they honk and flap their wings. About 50 flew directly over the house this morning, but that is quite a small number. Sometimes you can see several hundred of them in their V shaped formation. A sure sign that winter is not so far away.

Our first sign wasn't so 'exotic' - had to scrape frost off the windscreen this morning...

I went out at 0755 this morning and the temperature was 0 degrees Celsius according to my smartphone but when I returned at 0930 it had reached a balmy 4 degrees Celsius
