If the title wasn't over or it didn't matter I think Vettel would have got grief for that first corner puncture given to Hamilton. As it was it didn't change much so it doesn't matter. 2 out of 2 races for Ferrari getting benefits from the stewards mind 3 if you include getting past Massa
Diffuser broken, floor broken, bits of barge board missing. Hamiltons car will be underweight at this rate!
Every WDC is a deserved one in my mind. Lewis has proved far more controlled this season and its paid dividends. I think the jury is still out on the definition of “best”, Ferrari’s reliability has impacted the championship as much as Vettel’s errors. I can’t bring myself to feel sorry for Vettel, but regardless of any driver preference, we have been robbed of a real championship battle. We have had the usual discrepancy on stewarding again today, but it must be acknowledged that drivers are interpreting the rules very differently. The definition of a cars width and crowding has been viewed differently by several drivers today. Vettel, Alonso and Massa have all approached their limits of defence differently and until this is clarified I think a few will be thinking what if? Congrats to Lewis and I think Max would have won that race whatever the position he was in after the 1st corner. I do wince at his unwillingness to yield at any cost, I fear it’s only a matter of time before he is involved in a big shunt.
Even Villeneuve? As for Hamilton.... I know it's not a universal opinion, but he is a bloody incredible driver and has certainly been on better from that Vettel for the most part. Vettel just wasn't quite there this season. Hopefully he can bring a bit more next year and Ferrari can deliver a slightly better car.
Vettel’s temperament has been suspect this year and that’s a factor too. I hope they’ll have comparable equipment next year and let’s have a 5 time WDC decider. Hamilton has the mental side of things so sorted now, Vettel needs to do the same though.
I think we had the perfect recipe for an all time great of a season, we just needed Lady Luck on reliability.
Next year might, just might be good. Red Bull are pretty equal with Ferrari and Mercedes now. Lets see who develops best over the winter.
I agree with the above. There was far too little of the two main protagonists battling. There was far too little battling period.... I have been hoping for several races for a red bull of one sort or another to entertain but they've blown up. Bottas and Raikkonen just didn't give Jack **** imo. Just... well... almost epic season but not. Hamilton had the class but vettel led til that engine upgrade from Merc and Ferrari reply was unreliable. Imo it's high time vs hires 4 permanent stewards and thry get consistent decisions all year. Cut the radionchatter snd excuses out imo. And you know.... if cars touch a bit who cares... hamilton v alonso. Give me... MORE...
Vettel needs to have a good last 2 races, get his head back in the game for next season. He just lost form as Hamilton became unstoppable.
I do fear for Ferrari next year. They've stumbled since the oil burn came in at Monza. Red Bull and Mercedes were supposedly damaged by the late change to front suspension rules but seem to have fixed that now. Can Ferrari keep up with Mercedes and Red Bulls development next season? Will their place in the top 3 be under threat from a McLaren with a genuine engine? Worrying times for Seb and Ferrari in general.
I disagree on form, circumstance and reliability have cost him. Flip the coin and he could have won Singapore and Sepang and been on the podium in Suzuka and Mexico. All things considered, we could be going into the last 2 races neck and neck. Sometimes it’s just the way things pan out.
