It feels different to me because, when CP started he had this plan, and it actually worked, well a little, we created chances and missed loads & kept losing and drawing. He then went more defensive, and the rest is history. I think MP has had a better hand to play if I'm honest.

I've said for a while that I believe we will almost certainly spend some time in the bottom three at some point this season, though I don't think we'll ever go down.

Be interesting to see how the fanbase reacts if/when that happens. I mean, it means nothing to someone like me who wouldn't give a **** if we went down.

But to those that the PL is everything in terms of Saints, it will be interesting to see how much they hold their nerve.

You also have to remember the reason why Puel lost his job. It wasn't the results, it was because he fell out with a lot of players.

Agreed but surely the managers job (or part of) is to get the best out of the squad & put a team out which can perform best & get a result. I don’t feel MP is using our players in the best / most effective formation(s). Btw, I don’t think Puel did either towards the later half of season or maybe I should say after Wembley. Can’t be bothered to look but I bet our last 20 league results & performances don’t look very good.

Will MP2 be brave enough to play either of them?, I have my doubts....

A lot of blame seems to be heading Frasers way, so as a long term critic of him and someone who hasn't seen a replay I have to ask...

Was he really at fault? From the other end it seemed to me that it was just too ****ing easy for Brighton and was a sloppy defence who went to sleep.

So interested to hear from those who have seen more.

It is those over reactions which triggered my gripe, but it seems they were far less than other sites, which is something to be grateful for, others chipping in with valid well thought out comments makes it easier to follow.

I know you haven't accused anyone, but I hope you're not including me and this.

Yes cos I'm pissed off I've been very blunt but I've put my reasoning behind it imo.

What Brighton, at this moment in time, have that we don't is a team playing for each other. I don't know why that is, and I'm certainly not giving up on the manager yet - he's still learning about this squad and so are we. But I see lot's of individual talent, but a very disjointed side with perhaps not a lot of belief in each other.

I haven't read all of your comments, but I can't recall anything different than what most of us are aware of and were thinking the same way, but we didn't feel the need to comment upon.

The problem I have with chalking it up to a lack of confidence is that we have had what ought to be confidence-building stretches in the past two seasons, and immediately reverted to form. Scored eight in two matches last season, both wins, and the consensus was that we were getting our feet back under us. We then ended the year scoring 9 times in 12 matches.

Comes a time when you think. Why did the players fall out with Puel? What players were they? And are they still part of the problem, along with the lack of attacking threat

For a man of his stature I can understand him being a little slow to get down to shots along the ground, BUT he should absolutely not have been beaten at his near post by a looping header.

It would be a pretty boring forum if none of us expressed how we were thinking at the time....:p

1). I think we do have a bit of money, maybe not as much as people think, but a bit. If not, someone has badly screwed up.

    2) To the extent that we are tight for cash, we should have thought about prior to last season when we extended Tadic, Long, and Davis.

3). Some of the money and clearout is out of our hands. Especially if we do not improve. Van Dijk will likely be leaving. Lemina may go too. Possibly Bertrand or Gabbiadini..

4). We are talking about the easiest way to improve the team. If in fact this is not possible, then we are in trouble. We will be a lower table side. And relegation is possibility.

It is not out of the question that Redmond, Boufal, or Gabbiadini could take their game to the next level. Or Pellegrino could figure something out. But at this point, we cannot count on it. And even if some of that stuff happened, we would still need to bring in l3-4 players capable of starting.

This is what worried me in the summer. Rumours of unhappy players that were unhappy with Puel. Well Puel went so why were they still Unhappy?

Puel was really hard done by i think. If he stayed we would have been in a better position to buy the attacking players we needed. Even now, i have more confidence thinking Pellegrino's going to move to Puels diamond given the way he plays and the players we have.. Still, i'm sure he's happy enough being 2 - 0 up against Everton.
