We only have one attacking player. Been the same problem for over a season now

Whoever that Sky commentator is, he’s just summed it up nicely. We started well and had them on the back foot but then backed off instead of trying to press home our advantage. Eventually we conceded a poor goal and were never good enough to really take control of the game again. Fairly standard stuff for Saints at the moment.

I honestly have no idea what Pellegrino's tactics were. There was no sign of any game management whatsoever. It was like "ooh we're 1-0 up early, what the **** do we do now?"

Well actually, we had concede less away goals than any other team. Bit early to defend a 1-0 though <laugh>

Eurgh. Davis, Prowse, Redmond, Tadic, Boufal, Long and Hojbjerg all played out of their natural position. we go into the lead then drop deep with no players who can counter attack. So frustrating.

Personnel or tactics? That was quite dire. After the goal we sat back and allowed Brighton to find confidence. I’m sure a morale boosting talk from little Chrissy combined with us allowing them back into the game resulted in that goal and drek fest that followed.

I think we actually looked a bit better before the changes.

It started before that. In the first half when they had some reasonable chances which they could have scored from.

Its a forum and if everybody had the same opinion it would be bloody boring. In fact some times the most exciting part of being a Saints fan is to read the spats and comments on here.

Brighton were very much as expected - a poor PL team but understandable having just been promoted. We were very much as expected & we got what we deserved.

That was dross. I can only just muster an average performance for a couple of players today with most being poor to crap.

Pick the positives out of that.

10 games in now and I'm still confused as to what Pellegrino's game plan is for any game we have payed so far...

Definately tactics IMO, our squad is good enough to be a comfortable 7th this season, but we are playing liker a lower mid table team.

Badly need a wide player and another striker like Pelle.

Tadic and Redmond aren't good enough. I would be tempted to sell Tadic to that chinese team that wanted him

Ten games in now. And on paper, not a difficult ten games either.

Brighton were nothing special whatsoever. Other than their aerial ability to deal with our crosses - usually from set pieces - nothing from them impressed me. And yet still better than us. A side with any sort of attacking quality comes away from that with three points. Truly dire.

I'm still going to stick up for Tadic, because he simply shouldn't be playing on the right. He did absolutely nothing today, but he wasn't the only one. If he gets moved over to the left and continues to do absolutely nothing, then he of course can be dropped. Infact, he can probably be sold. But I feel for him so much, playing on the right.

I said before the match that (a) Gabbi without a partner, and (b) Davis and JWP in the same team, both really worried me. I don't understand what MP was thinking. Even Brighton played three attacking players along with Murray.

I am not going to call Burnley a must-win, because I hate that saying. What happens if you don't win a must-win? Are you automatically relegated? But if we don't win, well lets just say that the board will have quite a useful two week international break on their hands.

Not the greatest performance, but a point away which is always worthwhile. Good to see JWP playing at last and a cracking free kick to give us the lead. Yes, we perhaps sat back a bit after that, but Brighton were always going to come at us and with Murray against Cedric we were going to struggle.
As Fats says, stop whinging so much, guys. Yes, I’m disappointed, but glad to have got a point against a useful side who are only just below us. We don’t have (and will never have) money for an Aguero, De Bruyne, Lukaku ..... so we have what we have and MP picks who he thinks will do best. I DO wish Tadic would recover his old trickery, though - I think he’s fallen apart since his mate Graziano left. I’d drop him and start with Redmond (who I seem to remember, many of you wanted dropped last time) and Boufal. But, then, I’m no manager ...... just a fan.
