Crossing fingers that NELSON can run well in one of the final G1s of the European season today at Saint Cloud. NELSON was second behind Roaring Lion last time out in the Royal Lodge and also carries an entry for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf next weekend.
Considering the form Frankie is in at the moment, its worth betting everything he rides (11 wins from last 18 rides (61%) ) treble yesterday. Goes to Saint Cloud for two today 2 45 Hey Gaman 4/1, Hathal 3 15 3/1, 20/1 double very generous. HOWEVER you always have to fear K Burke as he doesn't send horses over for nothing as seen @ Chantilly when he sent Havana Grey and another one and they came 1st and 2nd at double figure odds. He has Ellthea @ 9/1 which looks very generous. Ellthea and Hathal double @ 40/1 also
Trip and ground to suit Odddy! Seriously??? Never won beyond 20f , well beaten twice over 3m and now goes 3m 1f, these are the exact reasons I didnt tip him today! That said, if you were going to get the trip anywhere, Aintree would be the place.
Must be the clocks going back mate, could've sworn it was 2m 4f today ..................... perhaps I was too busy looking at the Old Roan Chase and got my trips mixed up.
Good start with On the Blind Side obliging but Cluan Dara was very dissapointed there.Going to side with an old fav of mine Gas Line Boy ew in 1.50 at Aintree.I see that old rogue Tony Martin is running Laganore over in Italy with Keane on board, had to back 7/2 cus ill be kicking myself if i didnt and it wins!!
Got to feel sorry for Gas Line Boy there, had put the race to bed when coming to grief. But jumping is the name of the game Astracad doesn't really stay 3 miles stick but plugged on for 3rd
The meeting at Saint Cloud has been abandoned after an industrial dispute and walk-out by track staff. I bet QMII will find a few choice words .............................
What a nightmare Think I'll try throwing darts at the papers and picking my nags that way for a change.
2.10 Wincanton Not often you see a JP McManus owned horse at 50/1 down the bottom of the handicap.......................... can Polkarenix nick a place? Had a spin on the flat back in August too
Here's the latest on the Saint-Cloud debacle: "Racing at Saint-Cloud has been abandoned after a group representing trainers, owners and breeders barred the entrance to the parade ring. The demonstration began after the first race and efforts at mediation between the group's leaders and senior officials from France Galop failed to reach any resolution. The group, Save Our Racing, is protesting over France Galop's planned €25 million budgetary cuts, which will see a reduction in payments made to cover transport and the rise in VAT, as well as owners' and breeders' premiums. The track was due to host two Group 1s, the Criterium de Saint-Cloud, which was due off at 1.35pm GMT, and the Criterium International at 2.45pm, both of which had Irish and British-trained runners. Aidan O'Brien had a combined five chances to add to his record 26 Group 1 wins this year, while Charlie Appleby, James Tate, Harry Dunlop and Karl Burke were also due to have runners in the showpiece races. William Haggas and Ed Walker were due to saddle horses in the Group 3 Prix Perth. Discussions will now take place between racecourse officials and the sport's authorities as to whether the two Group 1 contests, or indeed the whole card, can be staged another time."
