Is it just me that is slightly pedantically pleased that Izquierdo plays on the left?

 

Not a great performance.

 

Haven't rated tadic for a while now but I'm starting to find myself actually disliking him as well. Always diving and moaning too. Would like us to replace him asap

Good defensive performance, forcing them to put in high balls against VvD and Hoedt who are always going to be favourites in those situations. Build up's not great, which is to be expected given who's on the pitch.

 

If Puel's interview with Sky at the top of the programme wasn't enough for neutrals to turn over, then that 45 minutes should have done the trick.

Thank god for the goal - and ultimately, if we get the three points, I'll be happy - because that was dire football.

 

Who is our second choice right back now? Cedric is very good in defence, bu going forward he's a complete waste of space. Not only is he the only right back in the world who regularly cuts in to crows with his weaker foot, but also hits no where near the target when crossing with his stronger foot.

 

Have a horrible feeling this is gunna go the way of Hull away last year. Hope I'm wrong.

 

Feels all very Mourinho, like we’re trying to frustrate and hold onto a one goal lead whilst hitting them on the counter.

Not sure I like that.

 

Odd half. We started well and then after 10-15 mins started sitting back and since then it's gone a bit dull. The lead makes that more tolerable though.

It seems we're more than happy to sit behind and defend this lead. Always a risky strategy.

 

In the sense of a 1-0 away win turning into a 2-1 loss, I can certainly see your point. But different circumstances.

Against Hull, we just started treated it like a training ground game. Very, very unprofessional from us. Whereas today, I get the impression that we've purposely set up like this - basically to get a 0-0 draw, and hope for a goal on the counter or from a set piece. And of course the latter is exactly how we got the goal.

 

We don't seem to have any urgency. Our crossing is awful most of the time. We are lucky to be a ahead.

 

Wouldn't mind that so much if we countered quickly but we don't seem to. First instinct seems to be to turn back a bit too much.

 

That’s it. We don’t have the players to do that too effectively. It’s a bizarre and very risky tactic. May still work, but meh.

 

Yep, that has been a feature of our play under MP2 so far this season, we don't seem to play much instictive football.
