This one? Yes he got booked - but at the time I thought they were just playacting - and this doesn't make me change my mind. Silly for doing it though...
Back home. Not surprised last on MOTD this time. Just never really got going all game and they certainly did a job on us with solid defending. Having said that, I thought Stoke’s attitude to go forward was awful in the second half. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a less ambitious half of football by a team. HG will never have so little to do throughout a game and still lose. It was just one of those sort of days. Oh, and Stoke are officially now our bogey team
Long day trip to Watford for me... left home at 8.30 got in at 11.15..... First thoughts TD should have had a red card. His behaviour is indefensible..... Our support was very poor yesterday Ray Moore of 1881 admitted it was a bad day on that front.... We were right by the away end.... awful...... Tactically we got it wrong and Stoke got it right..... In the second half they parked the bus and man marked us at every turn..... different tactics needed... On the other hand on another day we would have scored a couple in the ruckus in their pen box. crap day all round....
None of that time for the melee was added on. We wasted our own time and our frustration at the Stoke tactics boiled over.
The referee cautioned TD for his involvement in that melee so I don't think there is any retrospective action to be taken on him as an individual. There was more than one fracas and I wonder if the clubs will be called to task something along the lines of "failure to control their players" and a £££££ fine to go with it? Yes, what Troy did was unpleasant but not without provocation and the Stoke bench were well out of order. One is not to condone the other but the focus has been more or less entirely on Deeney and that is not right.
You know Deeney is laughing and has got hold of Allan's cheeks to make him laugh as well - what other interpretation could there be, bit of a love in really.....
Total cop out. Shawcross must be charged too. One can only wonder the pathetic nature of Oliver's "report".
I presume aiming a head butt doesn't count as violent conduct? Break might do Deeney good - get back to looking fitter and sharp which was lacking on Saturday.
Oliver will not have witnessed the 'incident' and thus the booking was for another part of the melee.... they are the only grounds on which Deeney could be charged... I do wonder how quickly after the game the ref writes their report....... as the media frenzy could no doubt influence.... Nevertheless..... TD was totally out of order.....
I kind of get the feeling they asked Oliver to say he 'missed' the incident, so they could charge him for it. Imagine the FA are a little annoyed they didn't get to charge Richarlison with the 'dive'. Saying that, it was stupid of Deeney to do it and he deserves a ban... just seems another trial by TV! Grey will start at the weekend but really hoping Okaka makes the bench I guess we should take it as a compliment that an established Prem team like Stoke would come to us and play like that... Having to park the bus! They and West Brom must be so boring to watch week in, week out. Kind of like we felt much of last season!
