I agree if we could defend we'd be ok-ish. The general standard of play is awful though seen better Sunday league games
Keane had money to spend though. You could parachute Rinus Michels, Brian Clough, Herbert Chapman, Helenio Herrera, Gyula Grosics, Luis Cesar Menotti into SAFC and we'd still be where we are now. Give them money to spend and it would be a different matter. Give Grayson money to spend and it would be a different matter. We have had managers in the past who have made the situation worse (Moyes) but the current situation is because Short doesn't care any more.
Earlier on somebody said any manager only makes a 10% difference to a team, been reading the fake news on facebook I reckon.
Yup, our defense is ****ing ****e bar Oviedo. JOS, Jones, Kone and two inept keepers. Kone great on paper, but only TP when wearing our shirt. Matthews better than Jones but only just. The chances of Rodwell stepping up in a CB role under this pressure are zero. Gibson can **** off too - he’s well past it. Wholesale replacements needed at the back in Jan or we’re ****ed - with Grayson or AN Other. And that ain’t happening ‘til Short sells up. At least Gibson is gone in January. Shame the other payday ****s can’t be shunted off, too.
Why did Moyes make it worse if he only had 10% influence, Sam only lost about 1 in 12 so Moyes should only have lost 2 at most not all the ****ers.
Agree with every word. The on paper thing is so over rated. Kone isn't interested, it's half a player, it's ****ing useless. There's no depth to fall back on. Hopefully Wilson comes good, should on paper, but **** paper, I'm not holding my breath with him, he's was free and has injury problems. Defence isn't good enough, bout time at least one manager gets thrown a ****ing bone to address problems adequately.
Really are rock bottom and rudderless I'm afraid to say but Grayson is not communicating the Sunderland passion to the players ting the day Derraid icati ggetting the Sunday Derraid Honesty explains why we were relegated. I been the case for far too long. Our teams have also been filled with large number of midgets for too long not good enough for the modern game - I'm really angry with this it's making mugs of our fans
That second half was a ****ing bus crash mate. I was fairly optimistic at half time, genuinely thought the timing of the goal may be enough to have them coming out in the second half with the wind behind them. From what I heard of the second half there was only one team in it. Yes the defence is very poor but the midfield shouldn't be, there's enough ability that they should be able to get hold of the ball and control it. Set peices are a worry, players knowing their roles is a worry, general positional sense (especially of the defence) is a worry and also the attitude of the players in the second half - a 2 goal lead thrown away last week and a listless performance this week - honestly think there's a fair bit Grayson also has to answer to for that. Is he the main cause? Of course not, I'd put him way behind Short, a core of players and previous managers but if someone like Keane/ Pullis/ Alex Ferguson were to come in (obviously they aren't but just hear me out) what is the first thing they would do? I suspect they'd say something like "I don't give a **** who you are, if you aren't pulling your weight and sweating blood for us on the pitch you are no use to me", they'd drop big name players and put in youth players not to get better results in the short term but to send a message. Grayson isn't sending that message at all, I think he's just a yes man. It doesn't feel like anything will change.
Think you might need to switch yourself off and on again mate. Seriously though, I remember a game against Villa when we were at home when they scored early in the first half and used every trick in the book to sit on the lead and eventually win the match 0-1. If we had half of that match day savvy we'd be in the top six I reckon. We're incredibly naive for some reason.
I wasn't keen on Keane (nice) before but I've changed my mind and I'd swap Grayson for him in a heartbeat now. Keane only really went wrong because he didn't know how to handle the big names and we don't have any now so you'd think he'd do well.
He only went wrong when someone decided to give him good money to spend. He threw some whopping money away on players who made your team worse or seemingly no better. Everything else about him seemed to be pretty good though so just get someone else on scouting and purchases Plus he is a total legend. I wouldn't trust him at all - think he's a nasty bastard - but respect him and he'd sort you guys out. Didn't he leave when Short came? My recollection is that there's no way he's coming back under Short.
Not read all of this but here’s my ten pence worth from a holiday park near hull. First half we probably shaded overall and deserved the equaliser. Better finishing could have seen us ahead. Second half there aren’t enough swear words to describe just how ****ing awful we were. Absolutely terrible. That said I though the lad went through O’Shea for their second. But he was a unit mind. ****ing terrible and I’m an optimist!!!!
I don't have the best memory for this stuff but I'm not sure that's right, think he spent pretty freely the whole time he was with us but when we got in the prem the type of players he bought didn't take kindly to his methods. You know what your average up their own arse footballer is like these days, they're not going to like being treated like a grunt. Yeah I think him and Short don't get on. Short is on the way out eventually so that may not be a huge problem but who knows how Keane thinks.
In my mind this should mean the Bolton game is now a must win or pack your bags situation for Grayson. The demise of the club isn't his fault, he's walked into a **** storm and he can't have known how pathetic some of the players he was inheriting are. But the bloke just doesn't look to have a clue how to get this team going, he doesn't seem to have his defence organised at all, nor do our midfielders know how or when to be covering or pushing on. This is what they are paid to work on through the week, if he can't get the message through or worse doesn't know how to set us up defensively then how can the club justify keeping him as manager. I believe the players at the club are good enough to get us out of this, but the manager needs to get them playing as a team.
For some reason this one has affected me more than most, I had from what I read convinced myself that there was improvement, will keep on supporting them till the day I die but must understand it will not be easy , sorry for the pessimism but there are limits
