And what would a no deal do for the Welsh Lamb industry So NZ currently has tariff free access to the EU up to a certain quota. But currently only uses 76% of that quota. So all the New Zealand lamb you currently enjoy whilst in the EU is tariff free in that sector. Australia has a much lower quota than New Zealand and uses 100% of it and is desperate to increase it and would more than likely be very happy to have much more tariff free trade with the UK. But what would happen to Welsh Farmers if you have more tariff-free trade Lamb coming in? And at the same time if there's no deal they'll take a massive hit on the exports (as 93% of Welsh lamb exports are currently to the EU)?
Because of the opposite winter/summers with Aus and NZ wouldn't affect Welsh sales much,plus Glory likes his bardiff fan salted lamb.
Times have changed,much better standard of living and lifestyle in Oz than here,people would love to be deported to OZ now days.
As New Zealand Lamb is cheaper than Welsh lamb an influx of more cheaper Lamb from Australia coupled with the effects of paying a tariff and more importantly the custom checks that would be needed with a no deal to the market you currently make 93% of your exports to I imagine would have an impact. OZ Lamb might be different but when NZ lamb is ready for market,xmas there is no fresh Uk lamb about so very little impact.
