With the return of Jason Euell to the valley it got me thinking of players we have had who have left and come back again. I can think of Hales, Flanaghan, Humphrey, Gritt,Euell,Big Dave Shipperly (I think) anymore...
Paul Williams, did he go away and return I remember him going to sheff wednesday dont recal him coming back. Morts of course forgot him.
Got a day today of... a) Watching the test match (Tewkes , your pre series prediction looks like coming true !), b) posting comments on 'ere c) Watching a bit of the footy when the test match isnt on d) Washing and ironing. All with a fridge full of Peroni ! Lots of activity in Gosport today because its Cowes week (i think !)
Eddie Firmani. Re Euell - how many other clubs have re-signed a player who was once their record signing?
Pity I can't get my football ones right, Stu... India looked wrong coming into this series, but after the shock of the first test I did actually expect them to get better - but they were abject again yesterday. It's not even the difficult stuff they're having trouble with, it's the fundamentals. Very odd. Putting off ironing until MOTD2.
Great thread, MikeT. Here's one for the more senior supporters - one of my first heroes, Mike Kenning spent a couple of seasons away and came back. There was a player who'd run through a brick wall for the shirt. Now I need help. There was a goalkeeper we signed as cover, first year in the Prem - Rees, Rice, Reeves? Very good, but he got badly crocked. Almost certain we signed him as cover again years later. Lastly, even though I can't verify this, I'm pretty sure John Vaughan, the keeper who broke his leg at Palace, when Gritty had to go in goal, did pretty much the same thing.
Thank you Stu. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Royce Good to see he's still playing, although it looks like his career has been well blighted by injury.
I did. First signed in 1950, rejoined from Italy in 1963 and again from Southend in 1965 becoming manager shortly thereafter. Another player who had two spells at Charlton was Mike Kenning.
