I told him that I was too sensible to drive a Muslim car

    Car History
First car- Mk 3 Cortina 2.0, didn't have a driving licence, local copper told me to pass my test or get rid of it, got rid of it.

VW fastback 1600, sort of Coupe version of VW beetle, brakes used to jam on if I didn't use it for a week, too slow, scrapped it.

Alfa Sud 1200. Amazing little car, fun to drive but you could watch it rust. Mate did 60 hours welding to get it through the MOT, front ended it a week later. Lights still worked but were facing each other. Scrapped.

Morris Marina 1800. Went OK but driving up to Leeds cross-member came adrift. Could only drive at 5 MPH or would have lost the prop shaft. Got stopped doing 5MPH around Chapel Town (red light area). Tried to explain to Police, even showed them the dangling cross-member but they didn't believe me. Did a temporary fix, drove it home and sold it to a mate.

Bedford HA van (Vauxhall Viva van). Great little number, excellent space under the back for stashing things one didn't want certain people to find. Sometimes had trouble starting but a hammer to the starter motor normally got it going. Parked it on a car park of a local community centre on a bank holiday and got sh!tfaced in the bar. Reused to drive because I was drunk so I decided to sleep in it (private land). Something was digging in my back which in my slumber I sorted, tuned out to be the hand brake and as the car park was on a slope the van ended up wearing a tree. Woken up by police next morning explain that I was parked in a tree. Scrapped it.

Bedford CF van. Diesel. AKA Smokie Joe . Name says it all, fortunately it was before emissions tests. Used to drink oil. Mate said 'keep an eye on the water' from about 15 m away, I didn't hear him right and assumed he said oil. I checked the oil it was fine. Then there was a burning smell, a lot of heat and a big bang. Scrapped it.

Rover SD1, 3500 V8. Bought it cheap, bit of fire damage on paint work (what paint that was left on it) very rusty, used more oil than petrol and it used shed-loads of that. Sold it to a local Pikey for £90.

Bedford CF truck, Diesel. Less said about this one the better. Gearbox went, got a three speed one from a scrap-yard. No syncro between any of the gears and reverse was where 4th normally is. Whilst going downhill full tilt in 3rd, put it into 4th......I mean reverse. The gear box disintergrated and sprayed bits of itself everywhere. Scrapped.

Pissed off with old vehicles by now, Brand new Mk1 Ford Fiesta Diesel 1600. Did the job but gearbox went after 40,000 miles. Had it rebuilt. Sold it to a mate on 63,000 and gear box went again after 3 days, I had no idea, honest! He was one unhappy bunny, never sell a car to a (ex) friend.

Mini (Old Type) Was fine but got side-swiped by a lorry, massive dent in O/s rear. Got money off insurance and bought the car back for £200. Filled it with pug, got a mate to spray it and flogged it 'sold as seen' to an unsuspecting punter.

Renault Cleo- Brand New.....Why? First wife chose it. Head gasket went, replaced it but head was warped. Flogged it to a garage immediately before it started leaking again.

Peugeot 405 Good car for a couple of years then gearbox started giving gip, Sold it to an unsuspecting punter.

Peugeot 306 Great car but wanted bigger car to tow small caravan.

Peugeot 406 Great car but eventually electrics died Sold at auction.

Fiat Bravo. Less said the better, Front ended it on A2, written off, bought it back from insurance, fixed it drove it for a year or so then parked it in my garden. Bloody thing is still there 9 years later. Note to self scrap it.

Volvo V 40 great car, bought it at auction for £1200. Did 4 years then Electrics packed up, Scrapped it.

Toyota Hi-lux (Africa) Parked it upside down in a river bed after a blow-out. Written off.

Jag XJ6. Given to me. Quite old but nice, leather smelt almost new. All walnut. Far too juicy, decided not to start, Scrapped it.

Mercedes C class Bought at Auction. Great car then Avantgarde gearbox started messing about, sold a auction.

    Current Cars

Mercedes E Class 3.5 Bought at Auction, great little car although wife no. 2 and daughter refuse to go in it, they say it accelerates too fast.

Kia Karens 2.0 diesel, Bought at Auction, Wife and daughter will go in this one.

Seven type kit car, Currently being rebuilt, Duratec 2.0, Roller barrel direct to head throttle bodies, dry sump, aftermarket ECU. Hope for 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. If it doesn't then it's going to get turbo'ed

I fekking love and fekking hate cars at the same time.

    I've only had a few cars, Peugeot 206 1.4 > Ford Focus 1.6 > Focus ST > Mazda RX8

I've got both the ST and the Mazda at the moment, probably should be selling the focus but it's a bit of a ****

Took a bit of getting used to after the ST, which any 17 year old ape could drive smoothly.. I've had it a while and I still accidentally do giant wheelspins pulling away at junctions sometimes

  18. This isn't mine, but it's effectively the same. Well, one of them, anyway...
