Good girl. It was all hand bags and a little coin throwing. It's being blown way out of proportion, although the OB massively cocked up.

With their history, Millwall fans should have been held back in the stadium. The number of Saints fans hanging around would have been reduced and easily controlled. This is obvious to everyone except the police.

It was so obvious to us. It should have been obvious to them.

All i see is a load of pathetic chanting and a soft slap from a steward. People calling for her to be sacked for that are really really sad. I bet you're the same people who wanted smacking of children banned, and at the same time sit there scratching your heads as to why the youth today are a bunch of uncontrollable animals.

I think one of your guys got hurt falling down the steps when he tried to get at the Northam, he was last seen in a neck brace on a stretcher being wheeled out, hope it was just precautionary.

Well said....I don't know exactly the pay of a steward, £20 a game? Certainly not enough to put up with the abuse given by some quarters of society who think they're being funny or 'ard by showing a lack of respect to a fellow human

The "youth of today" are always considered "a bunch of uncontrollable animals" .

Doesn't matter what decade you are in.

Those who are without fault can throw the first stone.

In truth, they're all vying to be the lowest knuckle draggers aren't they..? I mean, what's all the goading for..?

It's only a bit of fun, mate. Yeah, well it may well be a bit of fun for some, but it could end up with injuries to others. And I bet it would immediately stop being fun if you're the one getting injured.

Go home. You've won. Let the opposition fans go home and let there be the end to it.

I've never really understood the herd mentality. These people are all individuals, possibly responsible people, in other spheres, but who surrender their freewill to this tribal rivalry. It's as if they've switched off the responsibility because they believe they're sharing it between so many and are invisible.

As for the uniformed woman, although it was absolutely the wrong thing to do, she is a human as well. Putting her in a stewards uniform doesn't suddenly make her Miss Perfect. Just as being a football fan doesn't give anyone the licence to behave like a thug and get away with it.

I completely agree with you, I have never understood the mentality of people that want to stand their mindlessly chanting to try and cause trouble. I do not envy the stewards as some get a lot of grief and it is not an easy job. HOWEVER, I am concerned there is a trend growing in the modern game where more and more stewards are used to 'control' the fans. What qualifications do these people have and why do we see them week in week out trying to separate players from celebrating with their own fans, people get injured (sooner or later it will be a million pound footballer and all hell will break loose). I worry about this as noone seems to question why this has crept into the game.

    1) Rather than "more and more" stewards, SFC actually have slightly less numbers this season.
2)Qualifications - Since the Bradford and Hillsborough disasters steward training has increased almost year on year. Firstly the FSQ (Football Stewarding Qualification) was introduced which provided a series of modules covering things such as crowd control, First Aid and Fire prevention as well as the various pieces of legislation which apply to licenced football matches, this was superceded by Certificate in Event Management which basically acknowledged the fact that Football stadia were used for events other than football (concerts etc). More recently stewards are being trained to NVQ 2 level (NVQ3 for supervisors). All SFC stewards have either already achieved this qualification or, in the case of those joining during the last 12 months, are working towards it . SFC are one of the leading clubs in the country for steward training and have a well respected trainig department and in fact have introduced an apprenticeship scheme to provide training for young adults.

    3) Stewards are not bouncers, the words on the back of the jacket say "Safety Steward", they are there to ensure that customers can attend the match in safety.

There is of course unfortunately a need for stewards to deal with situations where disorder is ocurring or is likely to happen and there are groups of stewards in all areas of the ground who have received specific training for such circumstances.

4)When a player or player goes to the crowd to celebrate it is not the stewards job to stop him however it is the stewards job to prevent supporters crossing the barrier and going on to the pitch as this is actually an arrestable offence.

The steward that slaped someone was infact slapping her brother in law for being a knob
