    Guys,

What's the general consensus on Joselu thus far ? Clearly the guy is trying his heart out and he seems to be OK in the air but either we're not playing to his strengths or he's a enigma destined for replacement as he can't seem to buy a goal at the moment

Hats off to Rafa for sticking with him as a starter and we don't seem to have anyone who can lead the line so I guess we're doing the best we can given the options available to us currently.

Where do we go from here to get at least one quality number 9 ? I can't see us being in the market for a single 25M plus purchase any time soon.

He’s an honest player and gives 100% and for that alone I like him.

He’s just not good enough to be our starting striker in the PL. We need to buy a 15-20 goals a season striker who will also work his socks off. Won’t happen under Cashley unless Rafa can find another hidden gem like Merino but we can dream of the takeover and the money that will come from that.

I agree about Merino, boy is class. I don't think I've ever seen another player who can nick the ball from the opposition so skilfully and without fouling. I honestly have no idea how he does it.

Joselu is that player you want as a 4th choice striker who comes in for the early rounds of the League Cup and on the bench when you are unlucky enough to have a couple of your three first choice strikers injured. At least, that is, for a club striving to be a mid-table Premier League team.

All of our strikers have their issues and are sub-optimal. We desperately need a number 9 at the earliest convenience. The same applies to the number 10 position. We may need to wait for new owners for these players but I have serious doubts that will happen before the January transfer window closes.

Got the defensive elements of Shearer and just about **** all else. Don't give a **** though aslong as the goals are getting spread as evenly as butter. 25 mil player comes on takeover, if not get used to Josse

Not good enough, work rate is his only redeeming trait. Hopefully the new owners will sell him and prevent us getting relegated!

I like him, bearing in mind no one rated him when he came here, I think he's done a decent job considering he's had to lead the line as a solo striker in all the games.

Would have liked more goals, but he's got a couple, and very nearly scored with that awesome header against Swansea were the keeper pulled off a wonder save. Plus his strength, heading and all round link up play is good too.

Sibierski is maybe a good comparison, as we didn't expect anything of him when he arrived, and he ended up being a bit of a hero.

tbh I think it was a bit dumb of Stoke to sell him, they've hardly got better options right now.

We've spent far more on far worse

All things considered I think he's doing alright

He alright but we need better goal scoring wise. He looks like a hard working target man who will bag no more than 10 goals a season.

Would rather play him behind Mitrovic and drop Perez

Think he is an important part of the results we are getting at the moment and happy to see him continue.

He's been a good purchase for the situation we were in. Everyone likes his attitude and he's a team player. To build on where we are at currently we would need a much more serious goal threat up front.

Anybody think that we'd have been better off keeping Daryl Murphy than bothering with Joselu?

Joselu isn’t quite up to it however he is isolated most of the time. With proper support up top he might have more of an impact.

I think rafa would probably argue that Joselu's extra mobility is better for the system we are having to play.
