Often cannon fodder beats the big fish. Isn't there one more round in the FA and as it's more prestigious teams battle harder.

Not really when you take into account how the majority of Premier League teams field weakened sides in the FA Cup these days, so the only teams that tend to give it their all after the quarter finals are either teams that have secured their aims for the season (be it European football, promotion, or avoiding relegation) or have ballsed up to the point they may as well focus on the cup to try and put a positive spin on an otherwise damp squib of a season.

Is it any wonder Arsenal keep winning it? It's not like they've had anything else to focus on for a decade.

If they want to do this to their fans, shouldn't they let us know in advance so we don't have to spend a lot of money wasting OUR time?
I feel ticked off for our travelling fans who expect a Spurs team to at least TRY for 90 minutes. For 10,000 a week that should mean something to the players. Most of the fans don't earn that (?) but would love to!

This is what I said last night after the game. I might not have gone had I known we weren't going to try. I could have saved my money. No I don't earn that. Not even 10,000 a year.

Exactly. And just because we lost to WH doesn't mean anything towards our next game as opposed to what you are saying.

How did we not try when we were 2-0 up at half time?

Alli could've actually ended the night with a hattrick but for two great saves by Adrian. He saved another decent shot from Sissoko too.

Ultimately our defence failed us. Not something we say too much these days thankfully but unfortunately last night was one of them.

Foyth's positioning meant that he played West Ham's players onside for their first two goals but I won't lambast the kid as he's only 19 and playing just his second match for us, so naivety and mistakes are to be expected. Then the best CB in the Prem let his marker go and score the winner.

Those have nothing to do with not trying, just piss poor defending.

  7. Essentially I agree with you, however I do think the guys were so much in control that first half and for the first 15 minutes of the second that they did 'over-relax'. Once we lost the control and momentum it just proved how difficult it is to up the pace midway through a game, even against a side as poor as the Spammers!! :steam:

I'd definitely say we got complacent but it's also worth noting that West Ham were always going to try and get at us in the second half. A fixture against us really is their cup final, just likes ours are with Arsenal, so being 2-0 down it was inevitable they'd up their game and give it a go, especially as Bilic's job was on the line. The problem however, well at least for me, is that usually our defence are good enough to soak up that sort of pressure 95% of the time but in this instance they just fell to pot. It's ****ing annoying, especially it being against a rival but I wouldn't say the team never tried, they got cocky/ over confident but I think not trying as others have suggested is harsh.

Then we've not tried for years, because up until the past few seasons, our defence has been dog ****.

They have 3 trophy's in the last 4 seasons (Fa Cup which you deride) and made top 4 (which you seem to value higher) 3 times in the last 4 seasons.
How did Spurs do in that time and what did they focus on, when future kids look for their teams success how will they compare the last 4 seasons?

Any trophy should be valued, it is the only measure of a teams success, nobody ever remembers who came 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

    Thus immediately contradicting yourself by
    REMEMBERING the Goons PL performance
    over the past 4 seasons.

Only because this season is the first time in 20 years that they haven't reached top 4 but then you knew that <ok>

Thus confirming the fact that finishing in the tiop 4
is important (but then, you already knew that) .

Nope, I am just confirming the fact that there was a lot of fuss made over the fact that Arsenal finished lower in the league than they have for 20 years.

ONLY because it cost them their precious CL slot.

If they had finished 5th for 20 odd years and last season
was the first time they had finished 6th, nobody would
have bat an eyelid. But then, you already knew that.

But they would still have the FA Cup :emoticon-0100-smile

Everyone laughed at Arsenal when all they won was the "top 4 trophy", now they have won a few real trophy's recently some are trying to say it's because they had nothing else to focus on. **** knows what the teams who didn't get top 4 or win a cup in the last few years were focusing on.

    1. Everyone laughs at the Goons precisely because they
invented that "trophy" as both a means to claim season
success when they were never in the PL/CL races, and
to belittle supporters of clubs who tell them that painful
    truth.

    2. Luck of the cup draw aside, it is notable that of all
the Sky 4 and Sugga Daddy FCs, the Goons are
regularly winning the FA Cup while the others are
in the business end of the PL/CL close to / at the end
    and are not.

"**** knows what the teams who didn't get top 4 or win a cup in the last few years were focusing on."

Remaining in the PL as the absolute minimum ??

I would think most teams with the right attitude focus on the next game and do the best they can, some do better than others because they have better players sometimes, others because the have a better team chemistry than most.
Do you suppose Leicester won the league because they had nothing else to focus on whilst those around them were focusing on other things?
I am starting to see where this focus thing comes from, interesting.

Hate to say this but Arsenal fans must be happier than us when it comes to trophies. They'll kill to win an egg cup while we just say "who cares?"
