Well boys and girls, it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s nearly here. Our first game in the post Bent era, it seems like a lifetime ago that he left; he was a forward I think. Hopefully our first chance to see Sess in action and the first time we will see a double over a top team. I am starting to prepare now, I just love night games, the steam off the burger bars, the chill in the evening air, the bright lights calling you home to the SoL. Can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t wait to get there to meet old friends, friends whose names I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know but friends I have sat next to for years. To go over the Bent thing, I know now someone will say,̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâàI know but that lot up the road have beaten us with the Carroll thing, a laughed when a saw that mind̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃÂ, wonder who will say it first. I know the man who sits next to me will come in 10 minutes before kick off, squeeze past me, wink and say, hard game this mind. It always is no matter who we are playing. I know his wife; a very enthusiastic lady in her 50̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s will shout out, ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅYou need glasses ref̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃÂ. I think she heard it years ago and it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s her one piece of expertise in football, she always looks so proud when she says it. I know the man in front of me, just to the right, hates refs and linesmen and will applaud every decision he thinks is wrong, in a sarcastic way. Just before kick off, and I mean just before, the man next to me will come in, say we will win the neet, shout something know one has ever understood then sit down. At the end of the game, win lose or draw, we will all say, see ya next game Mara and go on our merry way. I just love match day, come on me bonny lads̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ.
Have you ever thought of writing novels for a living? I could be your French translator, if you like. Mind you, I don't know what sort of market is out there in the French-speaking world. Also noticed that in five more posts, you hit 500. Impressive. How do you intend celebrating? May I suggest another 3-0 victory over Chelsea?
Syd - there have been many post former player eras in my time. Post Rowell; Marco, SKP but all the former were like a heavy lump in the pit of my stomach. I was devastated when Rowell left and crest fallen when Gabbers was sold. With SKP I was a little bit older and wiser and knew it was coming but it still hurt like hell. However, the post Bent era doesn’t fill me with any feelings of worry or dread at all. It’s very strange. I didn’t want the lad to go at all and as you know, I was a huge defender of the kid but when it was announced he was going, all I could think of was I wonder who we bring in instead of him. The SAFC you and I (even longer for your good self mate) have watched for 35 years in my case and nearer 50 for you have in the recent past relied on one player to rescue the club. This SAFC has talent in abundance and the ambition to just keep steaming on, despite DB's decision to chuck his toys away. Who will be the biggest loser in all of this? Who can say. If we do make Europe and Carroll start off well at Liverpool, Bent will miss out on some real high profile games in Europe and that England place may well sit on the new Scousers shoulders and not the new midlander’s shoulders. That would be poetic justice for us all. I am looking forward to seeing Sessegnon tonight and welcome back the lads like Gyan for a home game. We have quality player and we will again bring in more in the summer, of that I have no doubts and the next few years look pretty good to me kidda. We've done the hard time. Now it’s our turn to enjoy some nice times at the club.
When I'm looking at the different threads they all have different coloured files on the left-hand side of the page...
Maybe it's so we can have clothes of different colours, you know, red and white striped shirts, for example. Oh, those threads! I see what you mean. And changing topics for a moment. Have you seen the picture of Syd. Do you think that's his grandad he's with? (Guess I'm just feeling daft after our transfer window success and before our spanking win tonight.)
"Our first game in the post Bent era, it seems like a lifetime ago that he left; he was a forward I think." He left befor the Blackpool match....we won it two-one...just a note, like.
Sorry, Poolie, I'm just feeling silly between two meetings. In answer to your question, I think it's what they use to make Brazilian bikinis or Asamoah Gyan's underwear, depending on your tendencies.
Last time I saw Chelsea at home was in '99....bloody hell....that's over ten years ago! They had our pants down on the first game of the season on our return to the top flight. I think it was four nil. Then we had them four one at the SOL! My whole family were out at the match and it was fantastic!
Jeez Cyprussyd. Great Post!! It's 26 years since I left and I've never been so homesick as I am now! What times the next train home?
