Poch only recognises "big" trophies. "Our objective is to try to win the Premier League and the Champions League. For me, two real trophies. "That can really change your life. And then the FA Cup, of course, I would like to win. "I would like to win the Carabao Cup. But I think it will not change the life of Tottenham. If you want to be a big team and if you want to fight for big things, it's impossible if you don't use all the squad and rotate in England." Do players care about the Carabao Cup? What about fans? Surely fans/players/managers want to win Cups. As a Chelsea fan I would love my club to win the Carabao. Success breeds desire to win more trophies
One step at a time, winning the Carabao cup could lead to bigger things if managers are looking at this cup in this way then as fans we really do need to voice concerns at this type of attitude.
I don't like my team to lose any match... they're professional sportsmen, and should be fine playing 2 games a week! I'd love my team to win a cup - any cup - and so should the players! If they want it to be taken more seriously, then they should offer both the FA and League Cup a Champions League place - but of course they won't!
How did you guess??.. Come on, was it that the cave dweller started yet another poorly disguised Wum thread about Spurs? That was it, wasn’t it??....
Having won precisely **** all with spurs. Pooch is in no position to be talking about ‘real’ trophies.
He'll **** himself into a kink if he gets a point on Saturday, never mind winning a cup. Muppet needs to shut his mouth and get on with things, all he's proven at so far is the Truffle Shuffle.
The big 4 seem to take the competition more seriously than the clubs a rung below them: the Evertons Spurs etc
Teams involved in European competitions always belittle the cup, Poch has just had the bollocks to admit it. The only time a top 6 team cares about the league cup is if they're in the final. Until money no longer rules football that'll always be the case. You get roughly £1m for winning the league cup. You get roughly £12m just for reaching the CL group stages and about £4m for EL group stages.
Problem for Poch though is that he’s proven nothing yet. Before he starts writing trophies off as not being ‘real’, he actually needs to win one first.
It’s a dilemma. We don’t have a massive squad. We’re still challenging on the PL front, and we have Utd, and then Real to play in the CL - all within a week. I’m sure he’d rather we won, and I’m sure arses will have been kicked over some of the complacent performances, but is he devastated we’re out - I doubt it.
Yeah his choice of wording is suspect for someone yet to win something but I don't actually blame him for saying it. You only have to look at the line ups of the Prem's top sides over the past couple of nights to see how how much they care about the competition in it's early stages. From a fan's perspective I'd love to win it, as I would anything else as silverware beats anything in my eyes but from a club's perspective I can understand why it's so often disregarded as it doesn't really benefit a club. It won't be a factor in a player choosing to join or stay. The financial rewards are a pittance for Premier League clubs and with fixtures being midweek, causing fixture congestion - especially for sides in Europe - you can see why clubs see it as nuisance until they've actually won it.
That’s the unwritten agenda for all the big clubs, that they’ll play a second string in the league cup as they have bigger priorities. It was poor wording from Poch, dismissing it as meaningless trophy whilst not having actually ever won anything, makes him look like he’s trying to act above his station. Wenger for years has used the competition to blood young players and give the squad a refresh. But he’ll always come out and say that he’s taken the competition seriously and put out a team he expects to win.
He treats the Milk Cup with the same degree of contempt as you do, and you have a pop at him for it! What a hypocrite you are, Pix! Unbelievable!
Your manager treated it with contempt ? I wouldn’t have gone that far but that’s a damning indictment from a spurs fan towards their own manager. Especially given that he’s won **** all. I’m sure he’ll make amends at Real Madrid though.
A little bit different. You might expect a member of the Royal family to turn down a turkey twizzler, but you wouldn't expect a tramp to do the same.
