http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...Emmanuel-Adebayor-for-free-article788200.html Two years after spending £25million to recruit the striker from Arsenal, the richest club in the world want to ditch the Togo striker and shed his £170,000-a-week wages. But even on a free transfer, Spurs will shy away from a permanent deal. They are content to take *Adebayor on loan, with City subsidising the bulk of the 27 year-old’s wages. Over the next three years Adebayor’s wages will cost City around £30m. City are also refusing to pay around £3m in agents fees and that’s why Samir Nasri’s £25m recruitment from Arsenal has stalled. The clubs agreed the transfer fee and Nasri *accepted City’s offer of a five-year deal worth £180,000-a-week. But Sunday Mirror Sport understands that City broke off negotiations when it became clear that Nasri’s advisers wanted paying for making the deal happen. Sources at the club last night insisted that the move could still take place. But they have told Nasri and his advisers that they will not pay agency fees on top of a premium *transfer fee and wages. Nasri, who has turned down Arsenal’s offer of a new contract worth £90,000-a-week, featured in the Gunners side *beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at The Emirates yesterday. Adebayor is in danger of being frozen out of City’s plans and needs to escape the Eitihad Stadium. Spurs boss Harry *Redknapp said: “It in the hands of the chairman. I spoke to him some time ago about Adebayor and I would like to bring him to White Hart Lane if we can do a deal with City. But it would only be on loan.” Spurs have a wage cap that has not exceeded £65,000 for several years and prevents them from even entertaining taking Adebayor on a permanent deal.
They will pay over the top for transfers , offer obscene wages, yet they claim moral high ground on paying agents fees.
I'm not saying they're wrong its just seems rather odd coming from them. We need these blood suckers out of our game.
If players want agents to represent them in negotiations with clubs, then I have no problem with that. It's up to them to pay those agents, though. No idea why clubs seem to be contributing nowdays.
The problem is, PNP, that a lot of these youngsters are too naive, or too thick, or both; to realise what they're getting themselves into. They are then taken advantage of by these leeches. There is, possibly, a tiny minority that actually have their clients interests at heart. The vast majority are just parasitic vermin.
Rohan Ricketts wrote a blog about it recently: http://www.sabotagetimes.com/footba...-arsenal-and-tottenham-player-rohan-ricketts/ Should be shown to young players, as a warning. Find someone that wants you to progress and have a good career, rather than make them a load of cash, as quickly as possible.
Good point, this is what impressed me most about Fabian Delph when he chose Villa instead of City, okay injuries have blighted him but from what I hear he ran the show yesterday City are in example of why it is wrong to just buy players for the sake of it, with no idea of what role they will have in the team etc. With the 25 man rule in place it only makes things worse, because of the extortionate wages some of their out-of-favour players are on eventually they will have to go on frees, take paycuts or on small transfer fees because nobody is going to meet the valuation AND pay the huge salaries
Took a look at that article and very interesting, just shows not all agents are b******,just most of them. Also found this on same site and having seen him play a number of times he would be a good buy http://www.sabotagetimes.com/footba...ro-negredo-is-the-striker-to-ignite-the-lane/
and then run away as soon as things start turning pear-shaped. Though I didn't have a lot of time for Rohan, this is, as people have said, EXACTLY the sort of article that should be put into the hands of every young player. Perhaps it'll keep them out of the hands of Sky bloody Andrew (JD take note and tell him to do one!)
