Judging by the comment count on BBC HYS, there
are a lot of Spurs haters who have long been waiting
to vent their frustration at our season performances
    as a whole. :)

What a shame, we get the Season Killer Cup off the schedule while also guaranteeing Bilic stays in the job for at least three more months...

By the way, when's the trophy presentation?

Third in the PL table and in CL or in relegation struggle and in the quarter final of Carabao cup?
I know which I would take.

TalkShite mentioned several times this morning that Poch said he only wanted to win "quality cups". I'm not sure he actually said that, unless someone knows otherwise. My feeling is that they "summarised" what he's been saying and reported it as a quote.

As for the game, it's often possible to learn more from losing than winning - providing lessons are actually learned.

Do you need reminding United lost to Huddersfield last week with their PL team. We beat Liverpool with our PL team.

We conceded 3 goals from corners with a back line of Tripps, Toby, Foyth, Davies and Rose. Carroll targeted Tripps-a total mismatch.
I am pretty confident with our regular back line we would not have conceded three like that.

I think Mauricio Pochettino said that winning the Carabao cup wouldn't change anything for Tottenham Hotspur and that we were concentrating on the PL and CL. The 2008 win would suggest that is correct. Winning that didn't stop Berbatov and Keane ****ing off that summer. They went to clubs playing in the CL and with a greater chance of winning the league. If anyone thinks that Harry Kane or Hugo Lloris are going to stay at Spurs because we win that cup, they're deluding themselves or as bitter as Jamie Redknapp.

That said, why say it? Just say players need resting. We've some injuries and big games in the next week. Sometimes less is so much more.

Everyone has made very good points about the match last night and I’m trying to think positive. I just hate losing to West Ham so much, especially like that!!
It’s all about Saturday now, we need a big performance. Win there and I really won’t care about this result.

How is the FA Cup harder to win? The only difference between the FA Cup and the Season Killer Cup is the addition of non-league teams, which means there's a far better chance of being drawn against cannon fodder - case in point, last season Arsenal reached the semi-final after defeating the titans of Preston North End, Southampton Reserves, Sutton United and Lincoln City.

We really need to get our analytical debate we had
a few months ago on the domestic cups (games
played, fixture congestion, timing - coinciding with
PL/UEFA fixtures etc) and distil it into a board FAQ.

That was such an annoying result - Hate losing to the spammers more than anyone, probably because their supporters (that I know are such assholes). We weren't really at it all night, even in the first half we strolled through it when we could have gone for the jugular and killed them off.

One of those matches where it would be hard to offer much praise, we just didn't reach the levels that we can. But even then the 3 goals were each caused by 1 error by each of our defenders, its hard to criticise Toby and Ben, based on their level of performances this year, but goals1 & 3 were pretty much down to them (1 each) and the 2nd Foyth got lost, but again I can't be over critical of a 19 yr old playing his 2nd match for us, in the main I thought he did alright and was actually one of the bright spots of the night.

Anyway onwards and upwards Man Utd Saturday and a different set of challenges, will be a tough match and a good result will more than make up for last night. COYS

Here's last season's relevant matchdays as a guide

    Champions League group stage
    13/14 September
    27/28 September
    18/19 October
    1/2 November
    22/23 November
    7th December

    Champions League knockout stage
14/15 February and 8/7 March or 21/22 February and 15/14 March (not a typo)
    11/12 April and 18/19 April
2/3 May and 10/9 May (again, not a typo)
    3rd June

    Europa League group stage
    15th September
    29th September
    20th October
    3rd November
    24th November
    8th December

    Europa League knockout stage
    16th and 23rd February
    9th and 16th March
    13th and 20th April
    3/4 and 11th May
    24th May

    Season Killer Cup
    9-11 August*
    23/4 August**
    20/21 September
    25/26 October
    29/30 November
    10/11 and 25/26 January
    26th February

    FA Cup
    6-8 January
    27-9 January
    18-20 February
    11-13 March
    22/23 April
    27th May

So not only does that throw three additional fixtures in during the group stage of either European competition, there's a two-legged semi final in the period where there's a potential or two (or even three) FA Cup matches, and a final that takes place either during or directly after the two legs of the knockout phase of the European competitions as well as a potential one (or even two) FA Cup matches.

That's why it's a season killer, as it piles on additional fixtures at the worst possible time for any club that's either in European competition or having an FA Cup run, while also having the effect that so many winning teams switch off for the rest of the season after winning a final in late February.

Also factor in that the Christmas period has a burst
of PL games over two weeks, before you even
enter January proper. A very stressful 6 weeks on
    the squad.

There's been reports of a shower of piss in the away section last night.

Also there's reports of a Spurs fan pissing in a pint glass and throwing the contents at the West Scam fans...

Man Utd lost yes and so did West Ham last week. We won yet West Ham beat us. Just because Utd lost to Huddersfield doesn't mean we will beat them.
