I went to see the mighty Metallica at the 02 yesterday and what a splendid show it was too.

Plenty of tracks from their new album Hard Wired To Self Destruct plus some classic oldies like Seek and Destroy, Master of Puppets, Creeping Death, Enter Sandman, For Whom The Bell Tolls etc.

The fancy stage screens/lights were a new twist on the normal displays at arena venues with more of an interactive feel both filming the band and playing videos and still photography depending on the song.

The highlight was when robotic drones with LED lights came flying up from under the stage circling around the band during Moth Into Flame

(This was filmed last month in Copenhagen last month)

The band hung around for ages after the lights went up throwing plectrums and drum sticks out to the audience even though they must have been knackered after a 2 hour plus all out metal show.

Metallica are Rock Gods, we are not worthy.

Early Metallica is topper, but everything after and including the Black Album is total mince. *** Thrash is its correct terminology, I believe.

Shrewdies these days prefer to promote the otherworldly ability of current UK pop aficionados, Scouting For Girls.

Great choice, Trev, and one that those with a keen ear for The Next Big Thing will be blasting on repeat for the foreseeable future.

TOP MSUCIAL TIP: Word in LEVEL 1 musical circles frequented by REAL musicians, is that new and up coming band The Wombats could be MOVING TO NEW YORK if we aren't careful LOL.

I jest, folks, but they're a great band, so give them a listen.

UNTIL NEXT WEEK, TAKE CARE AND GOODBYE.

I think it's safe to say that The LYT has an unrivalled taste in music, both past and present.

Their original bass player, Cliff Burton, was killed when their tour bus crashed. Does that count?

I don't care if you twats don't like Metallica, they are the best live band out there at the moment imho. Looking around the audience I reckon the majority of those at the gig were in their 30's so probably got into the band in their teens when the Black Album was big.

When they did One last night the place went mental.

"Darkness is visiting me...." Mon's fave lyric.

One is a topper. Again, most Metallica pre-Black Album is good, but all after is total ****e and is a damning indictment that they should have disbanded the very moment they conjured up the homosexual-emitting opening riffs of Nothing Else Matters.

    FACT.

Now **** off, you ***** bastard.
