I just read it in the news. Reports were he needed to beat us to keep his job. A LOW threshold of survivability I admit. Poor Koeman must be raging he wasn't playing us and winning 4-1
Interesting thing is what difference there will be for Everton short term. They can't solve the problem of crap buys yet. The team was still playing for Koeman so no performance bump. Who knows, things could get even worse, especially if weak Unsworth is pressured by Rooney to build the team around him rather than drop him. #whatcouldpossiblygowrong
I agree apart from Bill wanting Moyes back. Bill is close enough to the coal face to know that Moyes would never be accepted back by the Everton fanbase. Moshiri will want a glamour name imo whereas I think Bill would be happy to either let Unsworth have a crack at it, or go for a Dyche type appointment. I think they'll take their time, and see how it goes under Unsworth for a couple of weeks at least, see if there's a reaction and if he can pick a side that makes sense and get them playing in actual formation and style that they understand.
When Koeman came to Everton everything was honky-donkey, everyone thought he was the Messiah. One month is a long time in football management.
Koeman was the 10th highest paid manager in the World at Everton (and 3 of those ahead of him are plying their trade in China ffs) You're therefore deluded if you don't think the job would have massive interest, as it pays big bucks now.
I said clearly it's about top men wanting an actual chance at doing something. Who would want a struggle with no striker for months.... That's the reality. Then say ok.. the trophies are all headed straight for the city/utd/Chelsea axis.... Trust me if anchelotti goes to you he's after only money and that's dangerous.
The eyebrow wouldn't be the right man for us, and I didn't say he was....... All I said was, that there'd be plenty of interest from all kinds of managers, big club, big money, sensible expectations. The next window is only about 9 weeks off, and look at our next 6 league games........ Personally I want Unsworth to make the job his own and be given until the end of the season to show what he's made of. **** Walsh off and get a proper DOF in, as he aint one, he's a glorified head scout.
Did I? Oh....well. Ok Walsh had form for it at Leicester and Koeman was similar so..? I must have been lucid for that day. A rare occurrence of course.
I was actually looking for something else and spotted this. You and tobes were discussing the merits, or lack of, of a DoF at the time I think.
When does that ever work though? Even if he does well, odds are he'll get into trouble a couple of months after signing a long contract the start of next season and then the whole thing repeats.
Could be a first waiting to happen. On the other hand, Moshiri who hasn't been there two years yet has already sacked two managers so you have to ask is it just impatience on his part and also what is their realistic minimum requirement from a manager?
I think in fairness 11th for martinez and now what bottom 3 form koeman were grounds to dismiss. He needs to get it right this time. he seems to be aiming for top 6... so automatically was failing.
True that. However, it doesn't mean it can't be done. The test for someone like Unsworth would be player recruitment, and he'd need Walsh more than Koeman seemingly did. He's a good egg is Unsie and I hope this works out for him, as I think he could be a real breath of fresh air for us, given what he's done with the youngsters.
