That’s a good shout - but you would have to play Can in the middle of the 3. That’s the ‘easier’ position to play but you need two competent CB’s either side who have more space to cover.
Fair point on Gomez - only alternative is Klavan. But I would like to give Gomez a good run of games. No doubt he will make mistakes but he has time and potential to learn from them and become better.
Would love to see Ward play but I’m not going to write Karius off just yet. You don’t become one of the best keepers in the Buli by being crap. He’s a talented keeper who has had a tough start. I want to give him a proper run of games. One thing is for sure - Migs cannot play anymore.

Flannel will run through a wall and he will lead that back line.... just don't give him the ball that's all...hes a guy who wants to actually defend.
I would say there is no better time to throw Gomez in the deep end. Any mistakes he makes with be forgiven beacuse A) He can't be any worse than Lovren and B) He is young. Should he flourish then it is a bonus. It is a win-win-win situation: replaces Lovren, keeps Klavan out of the team and gets important first team experience in his proper position.
