They're not big and successful enough.

So we're a big club at non league level... I'd probably agree there tbh <whistle>

Wouldn't say there's a huge difference tbh, yes I'd probably say bigger but not massively.

OK, you've managed to squeeze every last remaining drop of any fun that was in my original quip so I'll stop there.

Killing time is one thing. Beating **** out of a joke is another! That'll teach that SecondStain bloke not to try and be funny :emoticon-0136-giggl

If it's any consolation, SS, I thought your original quip was pretty good. Sorry. Now sound like a patronising bastard. Time for bed.

I want Puel to get a job, but I would rather it was abroad....because I wouldn't want him to succeed here because then I would feel doubly ashamed that we sacked him and he could come back to bite us. After all it is all about Saints.

But what if he took it and failed. Is that justification for sacking him?
Best to just see it as different clubs at different times.

Where have you seen this? All I have seen is that the meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled as not enough progress has been made. The top 6 haven't changed their position, they just haven't managed to convince enough of the other PL teams to vote for it aswell. Eventually they will I think as it is beneficial for middling teams too.

Eh, I just heard that it was postponed and assumed that was an abandonment of their plans, perhaps not.

    **** the big six.

Yeah I think that not enough progress had been made by Scudamore (or whoever runs the PL now) in convincing the other teams to vote for it as well. Can't remember where I saw it but apparently last count was 9 of the 20 teams were in favour of it (the top 6 obviously and 3 others). For it to happen they need 14 out of the 20 to be in favour. I don't think it will be impossible to convince 5 others, although it may have to wait until the summer.

Middling teams will need to do the sums....how far down do you have to be before you lose out and how confident are you that you won't fall below that level. I suspect that there won't be 14 teams that consider it worth their while....and it would be nice to think that some would vote against it on principle as well as self interest.

This is true but for me the biggest appeal to the clubs who usually occupy 7th-14th is the much reduced chance of going down. The seasons where they earn less are nowhere near as bad as actually getting relegated financially. At the moment with the TV deal split equally any team below 6th has a chance of going down if they have a poor season. If the team that finished 10th (as an example) earns more than the teams below them and significantly more than the promoted teams then the threat of relegation becomes far less, it would take them having an absolutely disastrous season for them to go down. I can see this being a big enough pull to sway enough teams to vote for it.

How much money are we talking about? Would the earnings of position 10 under the new proposed system be that much bigger than under the present system....bearing in mind they are only talking about assigning part of the overall money in this way....the rest will remain equally distributed.
