Food prices have gone up a lot over the last 12 months-ish so these prices aren't extortionate. The food has to be good though and sadly it often isn't. My local has changed it's menu and is charging £14 for fish and chips, a £2 increase on before. However it is definitely at least £2 better than it was before, long may it last. Having said that, in a city with 8% unemployment there is lots of scope for disenchantment.
I love a good burger. But lots of places seem to make out it's a delicacy. Ffs its mince and chips. Two cheaper ingredients you could not get. I'd never pay over a tenner for that.
If served on an old roof slate or a piece of floorboard you can add a couple of quid easily. What ever happened to food on a plate?
Head of steam burgers start at 6.50 and are rather nice imo. Old house do wagyu burgers, including sides for about 11 quid. Need to be pretty exceptional if I'm even thinking of paying 15 quid.
Aye boils my piss that. Went in lucca on prinny Ave got a cracking steak. Served it on a slate. The bloody thing was cold. Ruined it.
Anyone making burgers out of wagyu beef should be put through a mincer. Feet first. So they have a chance to reflect on their crimes.
To be fair to them, they have a range of wagyu beef dishes on the menu. If the customer goes for the burger option then I'd happily take their 11 quid.
I bought some Wagyu mince to make my usual burgers. It was **** and nowhere near as good as my local butcher. That little one on Prinny ave.
