Didn't realise USC was owned by Sports Direct. While I was looking that up I saw that Sports Direct also bought Republic out of administration in 2013. My daughter had a £50 Republic gift voucher which was never honoured. I hate Mike Ashley.
It original stood for United Sports Corporation, but it's just been called USC for years. It was started by a mate of mine, he flogged it to Sir Tom Hunter for £43m almost 15 years ago, he was a very happy chap. It's not cheap sportswear, they sell Boss, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, G-Star, Tommy Hilfiger and the like.
When it first came to Hull, it was a shop similar to Bank, Republic, Scotts etc. It quickly turned into a bit of a jumble sale. The snooker tables were good but they replaced them with shelves.
His Steakhouse restaurants aren't that expensive, £15 for a burger, £15.50 for fish and chips or roast chicken. Even the steaks start at £20 (though they do go up to £60).
In Hull £15.50 for fish and chips is considered outrageous and £15 for a burger extortionate. And a lot of other places nearby.
Burgers at Frankie and Bennies are between £9 and £14 and their Fish and Chips is £11. I wouldn’t buy either of them but it doesn’t make those prices above too bad compared to this.
