So only just over 48 hours after a hard-fought win at Portaloo Road, DF must rally his troops supported by nearly 9,000 travelling fans to take on the mighty Gunners at the Emirates and as he says, there is no pressure on his players, as they are not expected to progress. If Zimmerman is still injured, we could see Martin return to the squad at least, whereas Wenger could bring in the likes of The Walcott and promote Wilshere to the starting lineup!!! From the Sky match preview - "Wenger has spoken recently about utilising his squad and on the back of Sunday's 5-2 win at Everton it is expected he will make a raft of changes against the Canaries. Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette could be rested, while Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring), Calum Chambers (hip), Santi Cazorla (ankle), Danny Welbeck and David Ospina (both groin) all miss out. Nelson Oliveira (groin) and Christoph Zimmermann (knee) face fitness tests for Norwich but Russell Martin will travel with the squad after playing 90 minutes for the club's U23s." Strange decision to play today, given that both teams played on Sunday. In fact Arsenal have had less rest than us, their subs at Everton will be very tired when they step out against us.
The Gunners could put out a youthful side supported by Walcott, Giroud et al: http://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/arsenal-carabao-cup-squad-norwich-13800021 The trouble could be the quality in that 'et al'!
I will wake up tomorrow morning and take my time to see what the result was - I am in no hurry to find out that we were on the wrong end of a good thumping
If the defence holds out for over an hour I will start to dream but I'm expecting a thrashing to be honest.
Is Marley Watkins still injured? Good job Cameron Jerome is indestructible I can't remember him ever having a long lay off as Nelson is still not fit, I guess Wildshutt would be next in line up front.
Football league world think we should rest £1.8m player James Maddison. Yes, there is a decimal point in there.
Watkins got a 3 game ban, which covered Boro, Ipswich and then presumably Arsenal if cup games are included.
That's his transfermarkt value - because you can't discuss a footballer without an arbitrary price tag apparently.
Pleased to see Nelson fit to start - at least I hope we aren't rushing him back. I like the lineup, curious to see how Vrancic gets on against better opposition. Perhaps less physicality and more time might play to his strengths.
